I do NOT recommend Big City Optical for anyone who has severe astigmatism and requires medically necessary contact lenses. If you need medically necessary contact lenses, you know that it can take a couple of months for your custom lenses to be made, and because the way insurance is set up, you need to time everything in such a way so that you don’t run out of your year’s supply while you’re waiting for your new lenses to come in. In February I was told my lenses had been ordered. A couple of months later, when I called to check on the status of the order, I was told there is no way to check on that. As more time passed, I contacted VSP, my vision insurance, and they stated a claim was never received. When I again contacted Big City, the manager would not listen to me when I said a claim had never been received by VSP indicating no order had been placed. The manager stated he had seen it take up to 8 months for medically necessary lenses to come in. The more I tried to reason, the more I was treated as if I was a difficult patient. At that point I asked for my prescription and placed my own order and received my lenses within a month and a half. It is now almost August, and not a peep from Big City with an update. Because the lenses were NEVER ordered.
