I and my adult children had been seen at this particular ACPNY medical facility for many years. Sadly, I believe I must seek an alternative for my medical care. I sent a message to my PCP, Dr. Wooden to refill my prescriptions. I was aware that he was leaving the group, but not the exact date of his departure. Unfortunately, my request was too late to be filled by him as he had already left the Group. I called the ACPNY Customer Care number to inquire about how I should proceed in getting my prescriptions filled? I was told that I would have to see a new Dr. After the Customer Care Service person checked the appointment database, I was informed there were no immediate appointments available. I then questioned what protocols were in place when a patient is in immediate need of getting their prescriptions filled when there is no available Dr.? At this time, I had already been without my medication for 5 days. After speaking with at least 3 different people and receiving a very generic message from a nurse stating again, I need to be seen by a new Dr., I couldn't get any clear answers. I was put in the position to find a remedy to this medically dangerous situation on my own. So after doing research, I was able to be seen by a Dr via TeleDoc and my prescriptions were immediately filled and sent to my pharmacy. Not one of the people I communicated with at ACPNY seemed to be able to make any alternative recommendations. I was in need of a plan of action that would address this situation immediately while I secured an appointment with a newly assigned PCP, or any available Dr. This unethical, unacceptable behavior and practice put my health in jeopardy. Do better ACPNY.

I am in the “don’t understand the bad reviews” boat. Everyone I interacted with was so pleasant and helpful- Dr. Thukral took his time listening to my concerns, Nurse Jasmine was very gentle with her throat swab, and Nurse Sue was so sweet while taking my vitals. Practically no wait.

My standards were always low for ACPNY, but this location made me swear off of them altogether. Dr. Wooden was one of the most insulting, least competent doctors I've ever dealt with. To start with, on the clinic side I had an 11am appointment and didn't even get called in until 11:50 - with absolutely no explanation for the delay. Judging from other reviews it seems like this is the norm here. After I finally get to an office, I have to wait another 30 minutes until the doctor actually comes in. Mind you, it's a work day and this appointment is now turning into a multi-hour endeavor. Finally the doctor comes in. First thing I hear him say right outside my door is "Who the hell is this guy?" in comically derisive tone. He comes in and I have the misfortune of him trying out a bunch of off-putting "jokes," I guess since I'm a new patient? Idk. If the appointment had been on time this might have been just uncomfortable and annoying, but after waiting 1.5 hours the experience was closer to infuriating. The worst part, though, was the misinformation and straight up homophobia (and I'm not a particularly sensitive person to be clear) when I told him the reason I came in, which is to get my 3-month blood tests for PrEP, an anti-HIV prophylaxis medication. He first blatantly states "I'm pretty sure you don't need those tests," and when I tell him it is indeed true he tells me "I think I'd know" (spoiler: he did not know). He started to make more offensive jokes, this time about how being on PrEP must be a way for me to "keep the party going" with more than a hint of judgment in the voice. And to top it off, as we were ready to leave, instead of apologizing about being wrong earlier, he says "Yeah, most of my patients are in committed relationships and don't need these kinds of tests. As long as you color in the lines you shouldn't need them." Yes, 'color in the lines' were his exact words. At that point he'd finally sent in my script and I just left as soon as I could, not wanting to ever be anywhere near that doctor or an ACPNY facility again.

So demoralizing. I never got seen by anyone. I Waited an hour and a half, I watched the room fill up several times with patients who got seen. When I finally asked about my appointment at reception, the person working was confused and told me the doctor had left the office. She explained that the receptionist had checked me in late, despite being there 15 minutes early for my appointment. Because of this I had no appointment time and was never seen before the doctor left.

Ive been coming here since I was in pediatrics. I am now a health care professional myself, great insurance however, decided to stay with ACP out of loyalty and I like keeping all my health care within one place however, after today its time to look elsewhere. My provider told me he can only address 3 of my concerns, then pointing to his watch although he was the one late to the scheduled appointment. Needed a number of referrals, all valid & only gave me one. Requested a referral to see a cardiologist for chest pain, provider felt it wasn’t warranted. Great thing I have good insurance, i can make an appointment with an cardiologist myself instead of fighting for my care. Unfortunate for those who don’t know their medical plans and rights. We don’t go to the doctors office for fun, we go because something is wrong.
