I've been going to the Center for Sight for a few months now. I had cataract surgery and am now fitted for glasses. I like that this is a one stop shop. Dr Franklin did an amazing job with a surgery that I was terrified of. I can't say enough about his surgery center staff! Amazing! I asked for prayer with the anesthesiologist and he was happy to do so. They even gave me a cup of coffee while being wheeled out. You are put at ease from check in until you're out. Also, Dr Laney is amazing herself. She and Dr Franklin answer any questions you may have. So glad these are my doctors.

My daughter was a patient there recently. She is 4 years old. We were referred there by our pediatric doctor because my daughter failed the vision test at her 4 year wellness visit. At the appointment my daughter’s doctors asked me if I wanted her to get her vision checked because she failed the test and I said yes. My daughter’s doctor did not refer us to childrens eye doctor because they have an extremely long wait time and because she was just needing a vision check, she referred us to Dr Katherine Laney. I have truly never experienced such horrific bed side manor in my life. If I would have known this was the interaction we were getting ourselves into I would have happily waited the 6 months for the other appointment and from this point on I will. My daughter as an infant was seen at children eye doctor for a lazy eye in which we received glasses and the lazy eye was resolved. This was the history I provided to the staff as I felt it was important for the visit. I did not realize I was setting myself up for judgement. Dr Laney did her exam and let me know my daughter does not need glasses to see which I thought was wonderful news. She proceeds to tell me that her issue and why our doctor wanted her to be seen in the first place was because her eyes still have alignment issues that need to be evaluated for surgery. At this point I am shocked because we just did a total 180 in this exam room and we went from not needing glasses to now possibly needing surgery. Our pediatric did not suspect alignment issues in my daughter as neither did I. She failed her vision test in the office. She spoke to me as if my 4 year old daughter was not in the exam room. I tried asking a follow up question because with this sort of news as a parent it is alarming that your child may need surgery. That was exactly what she was saying that she needed to be evaluated for surgery. She proceeds to let me know this is not her specialty because she is not a pediatric eye doctor and we need a referral to be evaluated for surgery. She proceeded to lecture me in front of my 4 year old daughter about a follow up visit they would have made 4 years ago when she was being treated for her lazy eye. At this point my jaw is on the floor because I do not understand how we went from my daughter not needing glasses now possibly needing surgery and me being lectured over not following up properly in her eyes 4 years ago. Dr Laney does not know my family or my life. She does not know what the treatment plan was 4 years ago. We are all truly just doing the best we can as parents and no one knows what one persons family is going through or why things did or did not happen. To say in front of my daughter we didn’t follow up as we were suppose to was unprofessional. I will never be back to this office again. I will tell our doctor office that I would not refer other children to this office again. Dr Laney talked to me as if my daughter was not in the room and as a result she is now scared of this follow up appointment we have to get her evaluated for surgery. The office we are now going to reviewed the referral and has her appointment booked for 6 months from now. Dr Laney not only suggested she would need surgery in an area that she is not a specialist in, she left my family with a huge amount of fear regarding my daughters health and we will not have answers for 6 months. She left me as a parent feeling completely judge by someone who we went to for help when we thought she may have vision problems. I am truly disappointed with this interaction. We went for help and left with fear and a horrible feeling from this provider. I just hope she does not treat another family the way we left that day.
I rarely ever leave a bad review but its only because its warranted. My primary care facility had me come here for a Spider Bite. No one at this facility could confirm it was a spider bite. However, after further investigation by my daughter who clearly saw the scab from the bite did indeed confirm it was. I told the doctor and his assistant or nurse in the room that I was highly allergic to a certain antibiotic and just access it from my primary doctor where its clearly stated. The doctor what he did was prescribe a generic form of the very drug I am highly allergic to. We left for the beach a day later. Then it turns out by the time we arrived at the beach my eye had swollen twice its size and my throat started seizing up on me. Then I had to go to the ER facility and spend $2000 that we didn't have all because the Doctor and his assistant didn't do their jobs. Now, he was a nice man and stayed in touch with me through my time away for a couple of days but it all could have been avoided and money saved had they done their jobs.
The doctors here are wonderful. Unfortunately, my overall experience was negatively impacted by repeated interactions with Angie, the optician. Each encounter was unnecessarily rude and unprofessional, which was disappointing and unexpected. Because of this, I will not return while she is employed here. Should that change, I would gladly reconsider my review and update it to five stars.
Dr Laney has been great, and Dr Franklin did a good job on my cataract removal. However, I don’t recommend the optical center there. Half the time the glasses come back wrong, they’re more expensive than other places, and one of the women in the optical center is the rudest lady I’ve ever dealt with. I won’t name her name. She knows who she is.
