I had an incredible experience at this Visionworks! The entire staff was friendly and welcoming from the moment I walked in. My daughter had her first eye exam here, and the optometrist was absolutely wonderful, putting her completely at ease. The optometrist who examined me was also very thorough and great. They were also fantastic about accommodating a schedule change when I had a conflict, showing true professionalism. Highly recommended!

The staff was so nice! Every step of the way, the staff was very kind and reassuring, and thoroughly explained everything they were going to do. The Dr explained what I was looking at in the retinal scans and how to properly care for my eyes. When I was checking out, the young woman helping me was super encouraging and told me she loved the glasses I picked out. I will absolutely come back to this branch of Visionworks for my yearly exam and any glasses needs!
Mixed feelings about this place; actually I’d say it was an awful experience if not for Michael. He’s probably the only employee who they should keep at this location. He was above & beyond. He remembered my Sons name and explained everything he was going to do. He made the tests fun and comfortable, even explaining that one was kind of like a video game to capture a picture of his eyes. Even watching him interact with other families before us was touching; he’s patient, kind, and personable. The doctor was also awesome. Took his time, explained everything to my Son & I. Very helpful & answered all my questions. Now for the rest of the experience. When we first walked in, there was no welcome, no guidance. I just stood there awkwardly until one of the women acknowledged me standing there (none of them were doing anything). I let that go and continued to the eye exam. After we were finished with the doctor, he told us the girls would help us in picking glasses for my Son. Again, I stood there waiting to be helped and these girls looked at me like I was doing something wrong. So I asked which section was for children and how it all worked. No one wanted to work apparently because they were all useless. My Son tried on some glasses and picked the ones he liked. I felt like I inconvenienced the staff by asking about pricing and how to check out. Needless to say, I was so frustrated with the entire experience that I decided I wouldn’t give my money to this location. Not to mention it was also nearly $500! I went to Costco optical and got similar frames & much better lenses for $120, and was helped by such an amazing staff. If I were an undercover boss, I would’ve been incredibly disappointed by all of the women working at this location. They clearly need a retraining and some lessons on customer service. Michael could teach them; he’s one of a kind.
We had a great experience from the moment we walked in, through the pre-exam, meeting with the Dr, choosing our frames and working with the sales rep. We felt welcomed, respected, listen to and never rushed. I even received great news on my eye health that I WAS NOT expecting! We will highly recommend to others!
Great staff and doctor! Staff were very attentive and knew what they were doing. The doctor took the time to thoroughly answer questions and explain test results. The only negative was that I don’t think the frame selection has changed much in over a decade. I found the frames for any pair of glasses I purchased from there still available in the selection. ****UPDATE**** initially left a great review on Google stating how everyone was awesome. However, yesterday I picked up my glasses, brought them home and tried them on in front of my family. They said they looked terrible. The frame didn't look good on my face. I went back to the Toms River office and spoke with Mallory, who on my initial visit was great. This time, she had a look of disgust on her face and a full on attitude! I dont see how my not being satisfied with the glasses for myself has any bearing on her personally and why it was so bothersome for her?! She told me to try them on and insisted they look fine. When I told her I still wanted to exchange for a different pair, she got so snippy with me and told me, well your insurance only covers the pairs that are $79.99. You can't get any other pair. I asked her because I don't know, if I could pay the difference between a different pair and a pair that cost more and she got so angry telling me that's not how it works! You cannot do that! Then I asked her, well can I just pay for a pair of new frames out-of-pocket and use these lenses. She also got very angry at me raising her voice for the entire office to hear..with your insurance you have you cannot do that! You need to just get the $79.99 pair! Then she turned around and looked at the female manager with the black hair that sits behind her and said right isn't that so!? And the manager also got very snippy with me saying yes that's all your insurance allows! You cannot do that you have to buy the pair that's $79.99! So I told her that I will go try on every single pair that's within my insurance guidelines and I'll bring back a difference frame. I went and tried on every single pair of glasses and when I was ready, I walked over and I'm standing there as she finished up with a customer. The customer got up and walked away, she continued to just sit there and look up at me periodically as if I wasn't there and then took someone else in front of me and the manager was also sitting behind her still and she had nobody with her and just kept looking at me and not even offering to help when she knew what was going on. My saving grace was Michael the general manager. He went over and took my old pair and said well I'll help you and walked me over through the process and Mallory looked up from her desk and screamed across the floor....Make sure she only gets a pair that cost $79.99!! That's all her insurance allows! I don't know how you have such unprofessional people working at your establishment and you keep them on because going back and reading all the other Google reviews I see that every single person just about complained about Mallory and the female manager that sits behind her. Do they even get written up or reprimanded or talked to or anything like that? Because their attitudes don't reflect that they do. When it's time for me to get a new pair of glasses next year, I will definitely not be coming back to your establishment! I will be going to a different place that accepts my insurance since I was treated like a piece of garbage! All I did was ask a simple question since I am not sure how it works with insurance. She had no right to get angry at me with a full on attitude and scream information out across the office, trying to demean me and make me feel like I'm worthless! She acted as if she is the owner of the establishment and clearly she is not!
