Such a bummer! Everything about this place is outsourced now. I've had a new optometrist every year for three years, as they kept leaving. When I called to make my appointment this year, I was told they no longer have an optometrist on staff, but someone there could do an eye test- I opted out. Fell in love with a pair of glasses there last year (2025), got a quote for over $500, found them at Walmart for under $50 for the frame! I called to get an itemized bill for my FSA, and it goes to a call center offshore. It took over 45 minutes to get a bill. The rep said they outsource all scheduling, billing, etc. I guess I thought this was more of a family run place. Switched to Andover Optical and my experience was AMAZING. Costco for glasses!

Tried to change my appointment today, which was for a December appointment and was told the Doctor no longer works there. NO notice prior to today. Extremely unprofessional especially when you are going to them for more than just a vision test, and your vision is at risk. Gregory Optical and Dr. Sawyer were wonderful. Clarkson is just in it for the money.
Administratively, this place is a mess. I do not have vision insurance so when they recommended a glaucoma baseline screening I asked for a good faith estimate. I received an email stating $116 . After the appointment, they charged me $342, over double! I disputed it and they said the good faith estimate was auto-generated and didn't include all the tests. The entire purpose of a good faith estimate is so that people can plan for expenses so charging double is outrageous and the fact that the system auto-generated an incorrect email is not my problem. They gave an explanation but never apologized. I notice most of the management responses to poor reviews is to offer that they be able to contact you to do their best to make it right. In this case, they already had a chance to make it right and chose not to. I loved this place when it was Gregory Optical. I will not be returning to Clarkson Eyecare.
This doctor's office lied to us. They wanted to re-check a spot on my eye in six months. I stated that I would no longer have insurance coverage. The doctor told me to come back in 6 months and he would re check it for free. I double checked to make sure they would not charge me. Then a few months after the re check I get a bill for over 200 dollars. I called many times and explained this wasn't to be charged. They even tried to bill an insurance company I no longer had. Now they have sent it to a collection agency. I don't even give them one star, but you have to in order to get this to post.
Stopped in today (August 19th 2025) to have nose pads replaced on my prescription sunglasses, and to see if I wanted to have them as my vision care provider. After sitting there for about a half hour and the ladies in front started talking about what type of snacks they brought with them, I got up and informed them that I would be going somewhere else. I went up the street to the neighboring eye clinic and they took care of me. In and out in five minutes instead of them having me waste my time like the people at Clarkson. Also let me mention that the other place charged zero for the nose pads. Not a very good first impression Clarkson, and I will definitely not be back, and I will be letting friends know.
