I mean it's a navy base nothing wrong with that my daughter stationed there. only problem is you can't get a visitor's pass without your military member being there. but if they're there. you don't need a visit pass. Any army base you just have to go to the visitor center and do a background check and then you can get on without your military member

December 6, 2024 we attended the Holiday Tree Lighting event and it was amazing. Live band, free Christmas trees, free hot coco bar, train ride and so much more. It was freezing cold and that was perfect. Santa came in on a helicopter. We loved it and if you missed out this year, well, there's next year
4 stars because the person at the concession were a tad bit rude. Otherwise, I’m glad the base have this bowling center for our veterans, and or still in service for their family and friends to enjoy. Affordable, clean and so much fun.
Army retired and staying in their RV campground for the week. Nice campground and people running the recreation department. But the JAX Navy base…I need some help understanding. Family and I have stopped at many a military installation. Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force. Always seeing some level of service pride and esprit-de-corp. Navy Exchange and Food Court are empty. No “community” here, this is just a work site. Possibly the saddest and most “non-PT-doing” military base I’ve ever seen. Literally not a single group or unit of Sailors on a run or doing field exercises or pushups/sit-ups etc. Not a sound of running cadence heard. Morning is incoming traffic at 8am. At 3pm you’d think someone hit the evac drill on the entire base. Post gym had usual cast of characters but no unit organized PT anywhere. How is that?
Dude it was cool to see a Blue Angels fighter jet. Seen them on TV but up close is way better.
