UNFAIR TREATMENT FOR WALK IN!! I stopped in for a walk in exam. I was told that it was great timing because 2 pm canceled. They asked if i would be shopping for glasses today and i replied NO! Told them I had not been there in a while. I have to also see an ophthalmologist yearly which we discussed. I was not in the computer and she asked for someone to pull the paper chart. AT THAT POINT, SHE COMES BACK AND SAYS THEY CAN ONLY SEE ME IF I JUST SAW OPHTHALMOLOGIST. We discussed up front that I saw them last summer and will see them this summer. She said they can schedule me to come in within the next couple days. WHY, I still will not have seen my opthamologist!!

I am an established patient here with a perfect attendance record, so I was surprised to receive a call after booking my appointment requesting a “partial copay to reserve your spot.” For accuracy: a copay is only due when services are actually provided, not before. A payment collected in advance is a deposit, and representing it as a copay is misleading. Florida’s consumer‑protection standards (FDUTPA) require that financial terms be truthful and disclosed upfront, not added retroactively or described inaccurately. No requirement to pay a deposit was requested or disclosed online at the time of booking the appointment. I was also told this is a Saturday‑only requirement due to high no‑show rates. I understand a practice may choose to implement a deposit policy, but it needs to be transparent, accurately labeled, and disclosed before the appointment is scheduled—not after the fact. Patients shouldn’t be penalized for the office’s scheduling issues, and established patients shouldn’t be asked to pay undisclosed fees under incorrect terminology. I hope the practice updates how it communicates financial policies so patients receive clear, accurate information from the start.

Dr. Cortez was exceptional. She was incredibly diligent, thorough, and precise during my exam, and she took the time to patiently explain everything in a way that was easy to understand. You can tell when someone operates at a higher level in their profession, and Dr. Cortez is clearly one of those people. I really appreciated her attention to detail and the care she showed throughout the entire visit. Highly recommend.

Got an eye infection over the weekend. Tried to go to the place I normally get contacts and the doctor had left. Came here as it was nearby and open. The doctor was in and refused to take me even though they were open, she was still there and I told them I had an infection. I would never go here based on her complete and utter lack of empathy. I do want to commend the front desk person who tried to help me find a place that was open with a doctor on site. Struck out with most of her suggestions.

The doctor was very patient. He explained everything very well. Made sure my vision was perfect before leaving his office. I’m very satisfied.
