The front desk staff was friendly, welcoming, and professional, which I really appreciated. Unfortunately, my experience with Dianna Kattengell tracks with the previous negative reviews. The exam felt extremely rushed. She flipped through the lens options so quickly that I barely had time to compare them, making it difficult to feel confident that my prescription was being accurately assessed. It lacked the thoroughness I’ve experienced to expect from previous eye exams. When asked if I had any concerns, I explained that I felt my prescription had changed. Instead of exploring that concern further, she quickly attributed it to me wearing inexpensive online glasses. I’ve consistently bought glasses online for years without any issues, and previous optometrists have never dismissed my concerns based on where I bought my glasses. I understand that healthcare providers can experience burnout, and I genuinely empathize with that. However, patients still deserve to feel heard and receive a thorough eye exam. I hate annoying negative reviews, but I also value honesty. I left without confidence that my concerns were taken seriously or that my prescription was evaluated as carefully as it should have been. Afterward, I noticed several other reviews describing a similarly dismissive bedside manner, which unfortunately reflected my experience as well.

Very rude and unprofessional check in staff. Just unenthusiastic and mentally checked out. I could say more but I’m not going to be petty. I paid out-of-pocket for my exam so I feel like I just wasted 180 bucks exam was rushed. You can tell the doctor is kind of burned out or overbooked. My prescription Strength has changed ever so slightly from three years ago, now common sense with dictate slightly better or slightly worse, since those can only be two directions for that answer And for some reason that seemed like a difficult question both times I asked is it better or worse and the same answer twice was it’s about the same just slightly different. Everything in this world after the pandemic seems to just be worse everywhere. Nobody cares about their jobs anymore and everyone just seems inherently selfish now. For the check in staff, you’re part of the reason the doctor is probably flustered. If you don’t like checking in there then go to a different job and be happier or at least fake it till you make it. I slept in a car for two years of my life before I got to where I am today and I’ll tell you you’d never know because my attitude was always good. If you’re about God then get close to him, it served me well. Patience and kindness goes along way. With that being said, I would fully avoid coming to this location

I was disappointed with my visit with Dr. Dianna Kattengell. I have astigmatism and have previously worn astigmatism contacts. During my exam, I shared concerns about my night vision while driving. She said my astigmatism was “not enough” and explained that testing for astigmatism and prescribing those contacts would cost more. I had not mentioned cost as a concern, so I felt confused about why price was part of the reasoning. When I asked how much more expensive it would be, she said she does not handle pricing and that I would need to ask the receptionist. There was also a moment when she asked me to throw away a contact lens container. When she returned, she pointed toward the sink, which made me feel as though I had done something wrong, even though I believed I had followed her instructions. She asked which contact lens was better. I said the first one felt better to me, and she responded, “No, this one is better,” without much explanation. I found it frustrating to be asked for my opinion and then immediately corrected without a clear discussion. Overall, the appointment felt rushed, and at times her tone felt dismissive to me. I did not feel fully heard and would have appreciated clearer communication and a more collaborative discussion about my prescription options, as I personally feel that astigmatism contacts work better and safer for me as I did brought up my concern with the night driving.I believe doctors should carefully consider patient concerns to ensure safety, and in this case, I did not feel that my concerns were adequately addressed.

Do yourself a favor and spend your money elsewhere. I saw Dr. Kattengell and my exam lasted about 2 minutes, if that. Literally went through about 4 slides. She has zero bedside manner. Didn’t even make eye contact. Seemed incredibly annoyed to be on the clock. Do better Costco optical.
