I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Ali Ghanbari and the OneVision Care staff at Costco. I called ahead to let them know I was running about 10 minutes behind, and the receptionist kindly reassured me that I was still within their grace period. Dr. Ali Ghanbari was by far one of the most thorough and caring doctors I’ve seen. Halfway through the appointment, I realized he had actually skipped his lunch break to see me so I could still make it in time to pick up my daughter from school. He said he’d just grab a slice of pizza. That level of care and consideration truly meant a lot. We had a great consultation, and for the first time in a long time, I genuinely felt like I understood the state of my vision and what was going on with my eyes. I highly recommend Dr. Ali Ghanbari and the entire OneVision Care staff. Thank you all for taking such great care of me!

OneVision Optometry at Costco advertises a 140 dollar contact lens exam but fails to disclose that all new patients are required to either undergo pupil dilation or pay an additional 40 dollar retinal scan fee upon arrival. This is not mentioned anywhere on their website or during scheduling confirmation calls. When I arrived, I was given three choices with no prior warning: accept dilation (which impairs your vision for up to 6 hours and may require a driver), pay the extra 40 dollars, or cancel the appointment. I had already completed a comprehensive eye exam through my insurer and asked if the requirement could be waived. I was told it is non-waivable for first-time patients, but would be waived for follow-up visits with outside documentation. That inconsistency tells you everything you need to know: this is a billing policy, not a medical one. Come prepared with a driver or an extra 40 dollars, because what they quote you is not what you will actually pay. I recommend any patients told the same file a complaint with Costco’s CEO and the DC Board of Optometry. This also may be a violation of the CMS No Surprises Act.
Dr. Vergeestden was incredible. By far the best appointment I've ever had at any eye doctor, and I've been to a LOT over quite a few years. So friendly, and gave so much insight into things I have never had other eye docs explain to me, so at this point I hadn't even realized I was wearing very outdated prescriptions contacts - no one had ever even though to mention that to me before! Explained everything as he went without you having to ask too. Overall really amazed that I'm writing a glowing review for an eye doc appt, but having such a great experience truly made my day and weirdly 3 days later I'm still thinking about how grateful I am and how much better we'd all be off if all providers were as great as this place. Front desk was great too!
I’ve been wearing glasses for over 40 years, and I think Dr. V gave me the best eye exam I’ve ever had. He’s a lot of fun, too! He explained why he performed the exam the way that he did, and he also explained what he saw in the photos of my eyeballs. I can recommend him without hesitation.
The woman working today had a great attitude and was graceful while working alone with customers who could be described as less than patient. She helped me quickly get my order of contact lenses placed, while answering my neophyte questions about my glasses script. Sadly, I never caught her name; however, she had a smile that is unforgettable!
