The experience I received while signing up for a membership was amazing. It started off bad after being misinformed about signing up online and the steps to doing so. After standing in the membership line once again, my mother and I were met by an employee with the name “Esther”, she was ready to assist us. Walked us through the right steps, and moved mountains to make sure our pre shopped items were in good hands while we waited to complete the sign up process. The manager “Jimeiha”, sorry if that’s misspelled, was also great with ensuring everything moved smoothly. Big thank you to those two, they help make shopping with Costco a pleasant experience!

I have been going to Costco for over 20 years and been a member because of the amazing customer service, but this Costco does not match up to it. The employees giving out samples today had absolutely no desire to be there but were at least nice. There were two items that I saw had price adjustments, so I bought them and intended on immediately returning them to get the cheaper price. This is something that is allowed at Costco and that I have done several times. I explained this to the lady checking our receipt, and she let us get into the merchandise return line. After an incredibly long wait, Derrin was assisting us and asked if we had finished our shopping, then immediately assumed I walked through the store with two items without paying for them. When I went to explain what I had done, he seemed incredibly annoyed and was rude. He had an amazing attitude for the woman before, but I do not know why he had an attitude with me. Glad to see I am not the only one that feels like this at this Costco. Such a disappointment.

The lady named Darshel working in the Merchandise Returns area at this Costco had a very poor attitude. Today, I went to the store to return an item. After completing the return, I intended to walk directly to the food court to buy something to eat. However, she stopped me and told me that I had to exit the store first and then re-enter through the entrance before going to the food court. I was confused because customers are required to scan or present their membership card in order to make a return. If my membership had already been verified, why did I need to walk all the way around? Is this a new policy? I did not argue with her and ultimately followed her instructions. I exited through the exit, walked around, re-entered through the entrance, and then went to the food court. Afterwards, I stood near the Tire Center entrance and observed whether she treated every customer the same way. Unfortunately, I was disappointed to see that she did not apply this rule consistently to everyone. It made me feel that she might have been biased against me.

I had a very disappointing experience at the Costco Ashland customer service counter on May 29, 2026, between 4:45 PM and 5:00 PM. When I arrived, there were approximately five employees behind the counter (one male and four females). The gentleman at the far end was assisting customers with returns, while I waited at the other end for card services. What surprised me was that after one employee finished helping the customer in front of me, she simply walked away without acknowledging me or offering assistance. After waiting another minute, I stepped forward and asked another employee, Leanette, for help. She completely ignored me and acted as if she did not hear me. I then approached two other employees who were standing behind the counter chatting and asked if anyone was available to help. One of them told me to "just wait" and that someone would be there. Meanwhile, Leanette still did not say a single word and simply walked away as well. As this was happening, a line began forming behind me and several other customers were waiting. Eventually employees came over, but by then the lack of professionalism and basic customer acknowledgment was very noticeable. I understand that employees can be busy, but ignoring customers, failing to acknowledge them, and leaving the counter unattended is unacceptable customer service. A simple "We'll be right with you" would have gone a long way. Costco is known for its customer service, which is why this experience was so disappointing. The team working the customer service desk during that time needs better training on customer engagement and professionalism.
