Dr Martin Hyman

I’ve been Dr Hyman’s patient for decades. He and his staff always give great service and take care of everything with no hassles. They provide free repairs no matter how long ago you bought the glasses. Great selection of frames. His exams include important checks for eye heath including retinal imaging and tests for glaucoma.

Don’t usually post reviews, but the lack of due diligence and care from this doctor was appalling. The entire eye exam from start to finish took 10 minutes. When asking me to evaluate different lenses, Hyman told me how each lens should look and barely gave me a chance to answer before moving on. The medical equipment was unsanitary (I could see skin flakes left by other patients). The prescription given was completely off — for example, he never checked for my astigmatism. I highly suggest going somewhere else if you want professionalism and an accurate diagnosis. This guy doesn’t care at all and just signs off on whatever.

I am in between cataract surgeries (one eye done, won't be able to have the other done for 3-4 months) and need a new prescription to make my very out-of-whack eyes play well together. Dr. Hyman's prescription should let me see with confidence and little eye strain until the whole process is done. He also gave good advice on how to get the most out of my employer VSP insurance.

I rarely write reviews, but this experience warrants one. When a business provides poor service, I usually just don’t return. Unfortunately, this was an exception. To start, I arrived 15 minutes early for my appointment and was not seen until 45 minutes after my scheduled time. This delay occurred because the office allowed a patient who arrived over an hour late to be seen before me. That alone was frustrating and unprofessional. The front desk employee was curt and unhelpful, offering little guidance and acting as though I should already know everything about eyewear. As a patient, I expect clear communication and basic courtesy, neither was provided. After my appointment, I informed the office that I would be out of town when my glasses were ready and asked if someone else could pick them up. I was told instead that they could ship the glasses to my location. A full month passed and nothing was shipped. Worse, I could not get anyone on the phone despite repeated attempts. It ultimately took calling several times in a row during a weekday just to reach someone. When I finally spoke to a staff member, I was told the glasses would be shipped “soon.” At that point, I was left wondering why they had not already been shipped, given the time that had passed and the prior assurances. Overall, the experience reflected poor scheduling practices, inadequate customer service, and a lack of follow-through. I will not be returning.
