I went to see Dr Tran for my yearly eye appointment for my contact lenses. Last year, everything went fine, an average eye doctor experience; this year was different. When I got to the office, the receptionist had me sign a consent to be seen and a consent for dilation. I did not want to be dialated since I had driven to the doctor alone, and informed the receptionist. The receptionist stated I needed to sign the consent in order to be seen but that I could let the doctor know I don't want dilation. When the doctor called me back to the room, I informed her I don't want dilation and didn't want to sign the consent. Dr. Tran was very condescending to me and said that I need to have the dilation in order to be seen. The doctor said the consent forms have nothing to do with her but are all to do with her office staff. I've had glasses since I was 8 and contacts since I was 20; I've always been recommended dilation but not required to do so. I told the doctor that I am 26, allowed to refuse that service, and asked her to stop being condescending to me. Dr. Tran asked me, "are you really going to be like this, or are you going to let me do your eye exam?" I told the doctor that I no longer wanted to be seen by her and for her office not to bill my insurance. As I was picking up my things to leave Dr. Tran stepped on my scarf that had fallen on the floor in order to try to prevent me from leaving. I had to pull the scarf out from under her boot. I reported Dr. Tran to my insurance company and I would not recommend anyone go see her after this experience. I think the Dr. must have thought I was younger than I am and that she could bully me into every service possible in order to bill my insurance company, as the only thing that changed between this year and last is that I didn't have insurance last year and paid her out of pocket. Either way, no matter the age of the patient it is not okay to coerce signatures, intimidate and be condescending towards patients, and physically try to restrain them from leaving the premises. Dr. Tran(I believe both husband and wife practice at the office) are awesome. Super professional, cover all questions and make great recommendations. I’ve been coming here for years and I can’t think of one time where I had a negative experience. I highly recommend them!
Hands down the BEST eye doctor! I've been wearing corrective lenses for 18 years now and he is the most caring and thorough doctor I've ever been to. I love , love, love him. At first I was a little apprehensive because his office is inside Walmart. But I am SO glad I took the chance. And the desk staff is very prompt and friendly as well.
Usually a decent dr and office to go to. However, today they informed me that the receptionist forgot to write down my apt when I scheduled it 3 weeks ago. I got to the appointment about 10 min early to do paperwork, and still waited over an hour to be seen. Ridiculous. At least let a person know how much wait time they are looking at due to your screw up.
My father had a terrible experience with Dr. Thuy Tran. She rushed him through the eye exam and crossed out her original prescription and re-wrote it. My father went to purchase glasses at another store in town and when he got his new glasses quickly realized the prescription was wrong. My father had his eyes re-checked by another optometrist and brought the new/correct prescription back to Dr. Tran who insisted he get another exam. Again she was rude, rushed him, and the equipment was dirty. Now my father is stuck with expensive lenses that don't work.
