Dr. Velasquez is a wonderful doctor. I really appreciate the time he spent examining my eyes. However beware of the optical department. I ordered from them at the end of December. I expected much better service than I received. I ordered the glasses and told the young lady that I would like the same type of lenses that I had. I told her just the basic progressives, photo gray and scratch coating. I have pretty good insurance and still ended up paying more than I have elsewhere full price. I got the glasses back and could not wear them, because I could not see properly. I was told I needed to get used to progressives. I have been getting progressive glasses for 10 years. When I picked the glasses up the young lady didn't even make sure the nose pieces were adjusted, she just handed them to me and goodbye. Then when I took them back the second woman was more knowledgeable and remeasured my eyes to make sure that wasn't the issue. They were off a slight amount and she said would send in for new lenses. But of course no transitions. They could do that at an extra cost of $72.00. I told them that is fine I am not spending any more money on these. Finally after playing phone tag with the office manager Opal for over a month, I spoke with her today. 02/06/26. She was less than pleasant. She even asked if I even wanted her to redo the lenses. And if I wanted the transitions it would be over $274 more because my insurance doesn't pay for that. Wow... so pay more than $300 over what my insurance paid (without transitions) and I don't want them redone? I can't wear these, why would I not want them re-done. She not once was apologetic or nice. In fact she was very rude. Sad that a office with such wonderful doctors has a department run like this. I learned a spendy lesson.... I assumed they would be good due to the office of doctors they work for. I was very wrong and now over a month has passed with no new glasses. 😕

Our experience with the optical department at Fine, Hoffman & Sims was horrible. It was a $380.76 mistake getting glasses there. The incompetence of the staff was compounded by the rude and discourteous treatment we received from their supervisory personnel. In a health care setting, there is some expectation that the patient's interests merit some consideration, but the optical department at Fine, Hoffman & Sims is strictly business (and a poorly run one), so it's caveat emptor (buyer beware). I caution anyone thinking about using the optical department at Fine, Hoffman & Sims to discount considerations of convenience or personalized service, because we failed to receive either. This was particularly surprising in light of the good experiences we've had with the medical professionals at Fine, Hoffman & Sims over the years. We read the response to our post from the owner and it is meaningless. It states that they are sorry to heart about our experience, but not enough to do anything about it. It states that their glasses are "normally" sold with a scratch resistant coating which they only "remove", "if a patient chooses not to include it." Well, that's the whole point, the patient didn't choose to have it "removed" (or not included). The omission of a scratch resistant coating, on a $380.76 pair of progressive lenses, was the result of optical department negligence and poor practice. The rude and hostile response that we received to our request for help, combined with their categorical refusal to provide ANY assistance toward the repair or replacement of the lenses, only served to compound the loss we suffered as a result of their incompetence. Their statement that they "are sorry to hear about our experience" is disingenuous and contrary to our experience in this matter.
The Dr was informative and polite however the frontdesk worker made sure to comment on how she liked my blue hair and my kids' hair aslo, but added that also, she can not longer have red hair because she has to be a grown up now. So I informed my children that not all places discriminate like that.
Complete waste of time. I left not knowing whether my old glasses are correct, no new script so guessing yes. I was supposed to get eye drops & instructions. That didn't happen. So I'm clueless as to why they wasted my time? The Dr wouldn't listen to one word I was saying & when I asked him to please listen & hear me the lady in the room looked at me like I had 2 heads. I'm pretty sure I know my body better than they do. Drs need to listen & put there egos aside for a second. I know my body better I promise...I've lived in it for 50 years. I don't recommend these people. Again, I have literally NO idea what happened, what I'm supposed to do or anything. Huge disappointment & huge waste of time.
Was billed for a service I did not get Did not get refraction exam. Assnt claimed I declined. Why would I decline?Called to complain about it, person was dismissive and unapologetic. She claimed the decline was appropriate notation. Would not recommend them to anyone.
