Elite Family Vision

BEWARE before choosing Elite Family Vision if you plan to use your insurance for a routine eye exam or glasses prescription. I chose Elite Family Vision because it is located next to Costco Optical, and I believed it would be a straightforward vision exam for glasses. Before our appointments, the office verified our insurance and explicitly told us that our only out-of-pocket cost would be the mandatory $39 Optomap fee. Based on that information, we decided to proceed with the examinations. More than nine months later, we received an unexpected bill for an additional $75 per patient. During our written correspondence, the office acknowledged that its own insurance cost estimator showed $0 estimated patient responsibility at the time of service and also acknowledged that the first billing statement was issued later than expected. The issue is not simply the additional charge. We made our decision based on the cost information provided by the office. By waiting more than nine months to send the first bill, the office caused us to miss our insurance company’s standard appeal deadline, leaving us with no meaningful opportunity to challenge the charge. If you want to avoid unexpected bills and losing your opportunity to dispute them with your insurance company, I recommend choosing another provider. UPDATE: The owner responded by stating that this is solely an insurance company issue. However, this does not address the actual concerns raised in my review. The provider has acknowledged in writing that: • Their own insurance cost estimator showed $0 estimated patient responsibility before the visit. • They communicated that estimate to us before we received services. • The first bill was not issued until more than nine months after the visit. Because of this delay, we lost the opportunity to timely address and appeal the issue with our insurance company. We did nothing wrong, yet we are expected to bear the entire financial consequence. This review is about the provider’s communication and delayed billing—not about disputing our insurance plan.

Came here on friends' recommendations, they all told me they're great with contacts. Since we live quite far, I held back for years tolerating mediocre contact lenses. After some unsuccessful contact lens experiences with others, I decided to give this clinic a try. I'm now convinced why because they know more about it, they understand lifestyles needing it, have more kinds offered to me, and got me a pretty good trial pair immediately during the consult. I may be lucky they got my prescription on hand but I best appreciate the thorough tests done on my eyes by Dr. Le. They're also great with kids as I saw other kids before us come out with smiles. It was my daughter's first time to be in an eye clinic and they all made her experience positive. She didn't feel awkward when she realized she'll be wearing glasses. They also went through the patient intake forms thoroughly, rather than ask me the same questions again and not discuss those pertinent to my eye care. They did tests with care and did not feel rushed. We highly recommend this clinic, most especially if you're needing another opinion on contact lenses or someone with kids. We didn't stay long in the clinic and we're seen on time. Over all a great visit! Thank you for accommodating us too!
