Dr. Callahan is amazing, first started seeing her in 2019. Staff is also very friendly and nice. They all seem very happy. Only issue is they tend to overbook their days so you end up waiting before, in between the tech part and seeing the doctor, which is fine just make sure you plan for a couple of hours. Example visit was 3:20 pm and I didn’t leave until after 5 pm. Not a huge deal and worth it just putting it out there for others to be aware of the possible time frame. If you choose to go here you won’t regret it.

I have been a patient of EAA since early on at their former downtown MLK offices. I have had two very successful Cataract Surgeries at both the Rio Rancho and Albuquerque locations . I write today only of their new offices at the “I25” location. The waiting area is attractive, very spacious, airy, and comfortable. All staff are quite cordial and professional in appearance and demeanor. All private vision eye offices for pre and during Doctor time, very appropriate. The waiting time to see nurse and doctor both appropriate. Very kind assistant person preceded the actual Doctor. My rating would be a high five except for one exception: What I am surprised and literally uncomfortable with is the very first room/area you are brought into for a pre-pre exam. Albeit you spend only ten minutes at most in this room, the rolling seats with very little and very low ‘backs’ extraordinarily uncomfortable. That in itself was a hard way to leave the spacious and with comfortable seats waiting area. My main concern however is not the physical discomfort but the fact that four/five other patients are crowded into this ‘intake space’ (my term) at the same time that you are. All the expense of these gorgeous and long awaited new offices get a F-/1 Star rating for the design of this ‘first impression’ very personally demeaning and way too small for room filled to the Max with four patients and four entry level care personnel. In all my fairly extensive history with various facilities both new and older of EEA, there’s no excuse in my mind for this jammed up four or five chair entry part of a patient’s visit. In an attached ‘selfie’, I am wearing a bright red shirt; surrounding me on all sides left right behind are other patients sharing with care personnel personal information. This is easily the smallest room/area including very spacious/clean/well kit restrooms, in the entire facility. Truly, I do not see the reasoning behind patients having their names called, and proceeded into this ‘closet’ of a room with four or more other patients and four or more care personnel with less than zero privacy or comfort afforded to the ‘herded up to separate computer screens for inout of private patient information. This riom is NOT designed at all with patients in mind. Another two photographs show a typical meet the Doctor room where you are left alone as your eyes dilate in a brightly lit empty office. I turned off tge bright light while waiting…Even the very old AEE facilities had more light empathy in their patients with dilated eyes to sit comfortably than this rather new but common place Doctor/Patient room-once again not designed with the patient (with light sensitive eyes) in mind. As mentioned, I have had wonderful care including two successful Cataract Procedures and many eye exams, my visit today ‘went wrong’ for me in that very first impression too crowded room. That room deserves an immediate Corporate change-up as it is a shame the room negates the kindness and professionalism of Doctors and staff.
Dr. Pitcher seemed thorough & competent. We waited an extremely long time after dilation and testing to be seen by him. Maybe there was an emergency but we weren’t told; after an hour of waiting there were still four patients ahead of us. Several staff members standing around chatting and laughing; seemed a bit lax for a medical office environment. Would have been appreciated if the doctor had acknowledged the long wait. I’m glad I don’t need any further appointments there.
All the personnel at Eye Associates have been the best. Starting with the schedules who were so considerate of us traveling from afar and scheduling my appointment at a reasonable time. Damian, the technician who checked my eyes, was attentive, courteous, and just plain kind. The system they have in place makes people feel important and valued. Dr. Pitcher is amazing. Don't let his youth apperance fool you. He is knowledgeable, considerate, precise, and communicated very clearly through the laser procedure, (for my torn retina) telling me exactly what was being done, how much was complete, and the possible symptoms i might experience. He was very thorough before, during, and after the procedure. He removed any stress or worry that might have been present. Very fine institution composed of very fine people. Words cannot give justice to the recognition they deserve. Thank you Eye Associates thank you Dr. Pitcher, thank you Damian. I wish there was a Retina center in Las Cruces so we didn't have to drive so far.
If I could give Dr. Jamie Odden 10 stars, I would. From the moment I walked into the office, I knew I was in the hands of a true professional. She took the time to thoroughly examine my eye, clearly explained what she found, and answered every question with patience and compassion. When you’re dealing with something as frightening as a possible retinal hole, you want someone who is not only highly skilled but also reassuring. Dr. Odden is exactly that. Her expertise, calm demeanor, and genuine concern for her patients immediately put me at ease. Albuquerque is incredibly fortunate to have a retina specialist of Dr. Odden’s caliber. She is knowledgeable, compassionate, and inspires complete confidence. I would recommend her without hesitation to anyone needing expert retinal care. Thank you, Dr. Odden, for providing exceptional care and peace of mind.
