We had such a pleasant experience. Jade (you’re amazing) was awesome with my son, and I really appreciated our interaction and her care in making us comfortable, plus making my 8 year old’s experience fun! Dr. Francisco was very knowledgeable and informative. I appreciated him explaining everything so thoroughly. Everyone made us feel very comfortable and welcome. Thank you to the staff!!

I started using EyeCare Associates in Trussville today for my eye examinations after Lens Crafters will no longer take my Blue Cross Blue Advantage insurance. I saw Dr. Wolf and I had a very had a very good visit. She has been my wife’s optometrist for quite some time and my wife really likes her as well. She very nice and professional and very though and clear in her explanations. She also answered all of my questions. I understand that I was very fortunate to see her because she has a lot of patience and usually doesn’t take new ones
I visited this eye doctor for the first time, and unfortunately, my experience was disappointing from start to finish. I arrived 25 minutes early to complete paperwork but wasn’t called back until about 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. Once I was taken back, the technician handed me dirty trial glasses and used a worn, broken eye chart during my exam. She then asked me to remove my contact lenses and place them into a reusable contact lens case that she had simply rinsed out and wiped with an alcohol swab—without washing her hands. I told her I felt that was unsanitary and refused. She seemed annoyed but eventually found me a disposable case. The office also requires patients to either have their eyes dilated or pay an additional $40 for retinal imaging if they don’t want dilation. During the exam, no numbing drops were used before additional testing, which made the experience uncomfortable. When I finally saw the doctor, he came across as impatient and dismissive. I asked whether the medications I take could be affecting my vision, and he immediately responded that it was “probably just age.” When I specifically asked about my blood pressure medication, his response was, “Why are you on them?” I explained that my medical history was listed on my intake paperwork, discussed with the technician, and that they had even taken my blood pressure during the visit—which was elevated. It was concerning that he appeared unaware of information that had already been provided. I left with a single pair of trial contact lenses and a recommendation to purchase over-the-counter eye drops that cost around $30. The staff member helping with glasses was the one bright spot of the visit—she was friendly and helpful. However, the frames I was shown were a model released over two years ago, and after getting home I found the exact same frames online for less money, with better lenses, even after considering my insurance benefits. To make matters worse, the office incorrectly calculated my insurance coverage, resulting in one of the highest out-of-pocket costs I’ve ever paid for a routine eye exam, despite billing my insurance nearly $289. Overall, this practice felt outdated, focused on cutting costs wherever possible while charging premium prices. Between the sanitation concerns, poor communication, rushed care, and questionable billing, I cannot recommend this office.
Originally, I went to a franchised office. I brought their rx here. Eye Care Associates were very helpful when the glasses came back. However, the excellence comes in when after 2 weeks, I couldn’t see any better with the glasses than without. I saw Dr. Wolfe, and she spent so much time with me on getting the correct prescription. THEN Whitney, in the front, was amazing at talking me through what I should see and how the lenses worked based on Dr. Wolfe’s findings. If you are looking for people that will take their time to help you, this is the place to go!
Truly the most comprehensive eye exam I have had in my life and I fully understood and was explained everything and all results. I can’t recommend this office enough. They also have great sales on frames and good pricing on contacts.
