It takes a lot for me to leave a negative review, but after my experience this year with Eye Openers, I would recommend anyone considering this office to find a different practice. After trying for four Saturdays to stop at the office to pick up my prescription, only to find them closed each time, I called and asked to have a copy of my eye prescription mailed to me. I was told by Dawn that there is a New Jersey state law requiring prescriptions to be physically handed to the patient in person. That is not true. The FTC's Eyeglass Rule (16 CFR Part 456) requires that a patient receive a copy of their prescription at the time of their exam, whether or not the patient asks for it. There is no New Jersey state law requiring in-person pickup, and no law restricting delivery of a prescription electronically or by mail. It may be a rule their practice follows, but it is not a state law, as she claimed. She also claimed I had refused my prescription because I planned to come back and order glasses. I'm not sure how a patient can "refuse" something they're legally entitled to receive without even asking. I did plan on returning, that much is true, and I tried to on several occasions, only to find them closed when their posted hours said they should be open. Their posted hours mean nothing. I drove there four consecutive Saturdays and found a printed notice taped to the door each time saying they were closed. When I finally reached them by phone, I was told maybe I should call before coming next time. They should consider changing their posted hours to "by appointment only" to honestly reflect how the office actually operates. They could also benefit from hiring a cleaner. The equipment was visibly dusty, with makeup stains from previous clients that hadn't been wiped clean in some time. The floors were dirty, with dust bunnies under the desks and along the walls. The cleaner could come in on Saturdays, since they're always closed anyway — just a thought. Lastly, the overall mood and energy in this office is heavy and oppressive. That could just be me, but my senses don't usually lie. I struggled to give even 2 stars. One is a sympathy star because I think they need it.

I do not recommend this office. My daughter had a comprehensive exam and we paid separately for a contact lens fitting only a few months ago. After she experienced ongoing issues with her toric lenses tearing and shifting under her eyelid, we asked about switching to daily lenses to address the problem. Instead of a constructive discussion or trial option, we were told we would need to pay for another exam. Communication throughout this process was poor. Requests related to prescriptions for outside retailers were not handled promptly, and calls were not returned. Obtaining a copy of our prescription became unnecessarily difficult. I also ordered glasses using the prescription provided and the lenses were noticeably blurry, with an axis measurement significantly different from prior prescriptions I’ve had without issue. In addition, the only pair of glasses we purchased directly from this office developed visible stress fracture lines in the lenses within a couple of weeks. There was no proactive follow-up regarding fit or quality. They never provided any itemized receipts for the services or charges, which felt unprofessional. Additionally, they asked me to sign the back of a folded piece of paper without explaining what it was, which made me feel uneasy and raised concerns about transparency. Overall, the experience felt unprofessional and dismissive. As a parent, I expect clear communication, responsiveness, and a willingness to address concerns. That was not our experience here. I would be cautious when visiting this office.
I cannot say enough good things about this doctor - immediately was seen and they were so helpful in explaining things, working on getting you the best price, and finding a pair of glasses. Never felt rushed, just a refreshing experience start to finish. Highly recommend.
They don’t even answer their phone. It’s clearly business hours yet when you call it just rings and rings and then hangs up. Not even an option to leave a message.
They are the best! Treat you like family! Always happy to assist with whatever you question or concerns are. Goes above and beyond in customer service, before, during, and after your visit.
