I am so glad I chose to have EVO-iCL (implanted collamer lens) surgery with Dr. John Josephson. I'm 3 weeks post-op and am feeling comfortable and settled in with my newly perfect vision. 24 hours after the procedure, I didn't know I'd be waking up without pain, just minor discomfort and tenderness, walking around at home (no bending or lifting of course). I had the surgery on a Monday and felt ready to go back to work by Thursday, just waited till Friday to be safe. The second week it just felt like when you leave your contacts in overnight, minor irritation and stickiness that I could function decently with. Week 3 now and eyes feel comfortable/ back to normal and seeing 20/20, just had my follow-up!
All staff from front desk to techs to surgery coordinator Carmen have been pleasant, patient and show a good team dynamic. When the coordinator heard I was unsure about getting both eyes done at once (which I'm glad I did), she had Katherine Flores call me and answer the additional questions I thought of in between preparatory appointments. She described her EVO-iCL experience from the year before very transparently and in detail, which ended up aligning much with what I experienced...with the numbing and anxiolytic, the bright lights were actually more of the challenge than the instruments contacting my eyes, and it was all something I was able to breathe through. The techs played soft music of my choice and Dr. Josephson talked to me gently through the procedure, was receptive to me feedback. In the end, it has all been worth it. No more fallimg asleep with contacts in or tearing them then rushing to order more in time. No more lost eyeglasses lol. No more squinting when driving.
EVO-iCL was my only viable option (rather than Lasik or PRK) because I have very thin corneas, and I feel blessed that that was the case, because it has all been so doable with great quality results. I have already recommended it to several friends, family and coworkers. Thank you all for what you do!!
