I know my review is long, and if you don't want to read it all, I'll sum it up for you. Go to this eye care center; they are truly amazing!! I picked this eye clinic bc they took my son's insurance and mine as well. It's just easier that way instead of having to go to two different offices on two different days. Which is what we had been doing, so I was very pleased to find this eye center. They were able to make our appointments back to back. So, my son , I was able to go through the whole process together, just taking turns with each part of the process. I usually bring my son's tablet with us to appointments bc it's just about the only thing that'll keep him occupied and setting still long enough for me to get my exam done. But I picked him up from school early this day, and we weren't able to stop to get it. That didn't seem to matter, though, bc he was instantly fascinated with the whole place. They have a chalkboard table with a bucket full of chalk for kids to play with as soon as we walked me. They had a box of tissue and hand sanitizer sitting next to the chalk table, which made it easy for him to clean his hands after he played with the chalk. We even enjoyed the pictures on the walls of different animals wearing glasses. I opted to get his eyes dilated, which he's never had done before. So he was kind of nervous about it, but the lady told him it would only burn a little bit, and if he let her put the drops in, he could have two stickers afterward. He didn't even seem to mind after that bc he loves stickers. He was so excited about his new stickers!! After that, we went back to see the eye doctor, who was very informative and thorough. I have been going to the eye doctor for at least 20 years. I wouldn't say I dislike going, but I wouldn't say I enjoyed it either. It's always just been so transactional and impersonal to me. I never once felt like I was learning anything about my eyes or how to care for them, etc. This visit was so very different, though!! My son and I actually enjoyed our visit! They did more tests on our eyes than I've ever had done at any eye doctor before. Now I know you're probably thinking that's probably going to cost a whole lot more, but it didn't cost me that much at all! It actually made me feel as if they genuinely cared about my vision and that they wanted to do everything possible to help us stay healthy. The eye doctor double-checked my 8-year-old's eyes just to make sure his prescription was correct. It's kind of hard for kids to tell the difference in small changes in their vision. My son has been wearing glasses for 3 years now, but he still swears he doesn't need them at all. So, I really appreciated her taking the time to make sure everything was as it should be. She also let my son set on my lap while she examined his eyes. And she gave him a cool little squeaky light up ball to fidget with during the exam. She told me about what foods we should be eating to keep our eyes healthy. She explained exactly what she was doing and why. After going to the eye doctor for over 20 years, I'm just now figuring out what exactly all those machines do. When the exam was over, they helped us try on as many frames as we wanted until we found the ones we liked. They also helped me figure out which frames were covered by each of our insurances. The whole place was very clean and beautifully decorated. Every single person I met was helpful and kind. My son has always been very curious about everything, and he asks millions of questions. Which can upset some people. But, every person we met answered his questions and explained everything to him. Which really helped him to not get overwhelmed or nervous with all the machines and everything. When we were leaving, I asked him if he liked this place better than the last eye doctor we went to. He said yes, we should definitely come back. So there you have it, we will definitely be back!!
I love this place. Dr. Grist compassionate & knowledgeable & the staff is awsome as well. I was there 2hours picking out glasses they didn't mind at all. They will do whatever to make it as cheap as possible weather its getting products from them or elsewhere.
They made sure both pairs of glasses fit. One pair was sunglasses. Anytime I need work done to my glasses they are more than glad to do it for me. And they are super nice. I would recommend to everyone.
Dr. Grist, Vickie and the entire staff have always treated my family, as well as myself, with compassion and respect. They provide top-notch care in a caring environment.
