I recently was referred here by my eye doctor of 30 years because of some scarring on my retina. He told me Dr Friedman was the best. After reading a few negatives it made me a bit apprehensive however I was so happy with Dr Friedman and his staff. They were kind , professional, efficient and patient with my concerns and questions. Dr Friedman explained to me in detail why I had been referred and in depth about my eyes. I was happy of course to learn that I did not need surgery and it actually was not in my best interest. It’s also nice to know in these current times someone is not looking to profit needlessly. Extremely pleased with this office and everyone involved that saw me on 11-14-24

Scott Friedman, please work on your bedside manner. My mother who is battling vision loss for reasons she cant get answers to, qas referred to your office. Her previous eye exam had determined that she had blood inside of her eye (splattered). She has been told by several doctors that she does NOT have cataracts. To be so harsh and brash with an elderly whom has gone mostly blind.. shame on you. Thanks, to the staff for making this trip pleasant on your end!
I give Dr. Friedman one star not because of him but because of Renee who does his insurance billing. Let me explain. Under my insurance policy, I am entitled to an annual Diabetic Retinal Exam as I am a Diabetic which covers this exam to 100% with no co pays. In addition, I have an annual vision exam for eyeglasses which is separate from the Retinal Exam. FYI, Retinal specialists do NOT do vision exams for eyeglass prescriptions. Now here is the problem that Renee created and refuses to address. She billed my insurance company, AETNA, for an eye exam NOT a Diabetic Retinal Exam (which I have had done for almost 15 years with 2 other Retinal Doctor specialists) and sent me a bill for a $50 copay. Again under my plan I pay 0 copay. AETNA told me to have the Doctor's office change the billing to Annual Diabetic Retinal Exam but, and here is where the problem is, Renee refused to do so saying because I was a first time patient her policy is to bill as a specialist visit not a Diabetic Retinal Exam. She insisted that all other Retinal Specialist Doctors do the same, however I have seen two others over the years and never had this problem. The last visit last year for the first time was billed correctly with no copay needed. Again, last year was a first time visit to that Doctor. While I liked Dr. Friedman, his attention and bedside manners I would not return because of Renee, the insurance billing clerk. Her demeanor was not customer service friendly, she would not listen to my explanation and insisted on maintaining her position which eventually led to a heated argument when I tried to plead my case of losing my vision benefit as well as a result of her billing position. Had it not been for her attitude on the phone call, I would have given Dr. Scott Friedman 5 stars. I recommend him but beware of how your insurance is being billed. I did say to Renee that if that were the case when I booked and stated the Annual Diabetic Retinal Exam, they should have told me they would not bill it as such being a first time patient. Then I could have gone elsewhere or back to one of the two previous Doctors and driven the 40 miles to see them. Should this issue be resolved by Renee, I will be glad to change my rating and comments as again, I liked Dr. Friedman.
Dr. Friedman has always been an attentive, intelligent and upfront retinal specialist who has always been willing to do whatever it takes to preserve my vision.
I Called needing an eye doctor and the staff was rude and did not sound like they wanted to help at all. They acted like they couldn’t hear me and were unpleasant.
