I have been a patient at the Kaufman Eye Institute for a few years and I feel that I have received the best eye care. My experience with first my vision issues and then my cataract surgery have been excellent. I am grateful to Dr. Jonathan Kaufman for my vision today and the continued eye care that I receive. I highly recommend Kaufman Eye Institute.

I went to Kaufman eyes, Zephyrhills for contact exam. The assistant came in did eye exam. She went to dilate my eyes, I told her my contacts were in. She asked me to remove them. She dilated and checked my eyes. Still no doctor. I was ready to leave because I am a hour and a half in already when he walks in. He looks at computer of what she input and said he wants to do the exam again. I told him my eyes were dilated and everything was blurry. He gave me contacts and told me to come back in a week. Two hours now has passed. Insurance billed and exam not done correctly. They offered to schedule me for another appointment. Never will I walk in that door again.
I like the Zephyrhills and Wesley Chapel locations. Everyone is very nice and courteous. My only big complaint is the wait to see the doctor. Last visit I waited over 3 hours and yesterday it was 2 1/2 hours. There were a lot of very unhappy patients. Hire another doctor who can administer eye injections. You should have at least 2 specialists to handle the volume of patients that is required. Thank you
Dr. Fauss found an invasive cancer on my eye.. thanks to him, he surgically removed it completely! The whole experience with Dr. Fauss and the Kaufman institute was great.
I want to share my very disappointing experience at Krauffman Eye Institute in Zephyrhills. I was seen by Dr. Nolan on June 9 for an eye examination and to be fitted for new gas-permeable contact lenses. The appointment seemed to go well, and Dr. Nolan told me he would order my new contact lenses and that I would be contacted when they arrived. After waiting three weeks without hearing from anyone, I called the office to check on the status of my order. To my surprise, no one seemed to know anything about my contact lenses. When I requested a copy of my contact lens prescription, I was told there wasn't one in my file. Eventually, someone in the optical department informed me that my contact lenses had, in fact, arrived. Then I was scheduled for Wednesday July 8th with an appointment with Dr. Nolan to try the new lenses, only to discover that they had mistakenly been sent to the Bushnell office instead of the Zephyrhills office. I was told someone would retrieve them from Bushnell and bring them to Zephyrhills so I could pick them up the following day, July 9. Fortunately, that issue was eventually resolved. Dr. Nolan instructed me to wear the new lenses for one week and then return for a follow-up appointment. Unfortunately, after wearing them, I found that the right contact lens was uncomfortable, caused blurry vision, and made my eye hurt. I called the office on Friday, July 10, and scheduled a follow-up appointment for Monday, July 13, at 3:15 p.m. When I arrived, a technician was pleasant and professional. She asked me to put in the new contact lenses while she evaluated my vision and asked several questions. She then told me Dr. Nolan would see me after he finished with another patient. After waiting for more than an hour, I became frustrated and went to the front desk, ready to leave. I asked for my contact lens prescription so I could seek care elsewhere. A staff member told me that patients are generally informed that appointments may involve waits of up to an hour and a half. I was never told this, and even if I had been, I believe that is an unreasonable wait time for a scheduled appointment. Once again, I was told there was no contact lens prescription in my file—only a glasses prescription. The staff then spent another 20 minutes trying to determine what had happened. Eventually, Dr. Nolan came out and explained that there was no finalized contact lens prescription because he still needed to evaluate the fit of the lenses at another follow-up visit. Dr. Nolan also commented that gas-permeable contact lenses can be difficult to fit. While I understand that, I have successfully worn gas-permeable contact lenses for more than 50 years without experiencing these kinds of problems. For the past six years, I was under the care of Dr. Cornelly and never had any issues with my contact lens fittings. Unfortunately, my vision insurance changed, which is why I had to find a new eye doctor. This entire experience was disorganized, frustrating, and disappointing. Between the lack of communication, the misplaced contact lenses, the missing contact lens prescription, the excessive wait times, and the multiple unnecessary trips to the office, I left without a usable contact lens prescription despite paying $100 for my visit. I now have to find another eye doctor to complete what should have been a straightforward contact lens fitting. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this practice. The lack of communication, poor organization, and failure to provide appropriate follow-up resulted in an unnecessarily stressful and time-consuming experience that fell well below the standard of care I expected.
