I had an amazing experience at Golden Vision Optometry in Milpitas. Sharon Leong was the one who helped me and she was incredibly kind, patient, and knowledgeable. They are way cheaper than any other optometry place I have been to in the Bay Area. My insurance only covered the eye exam and 150 dollars toward glasses, and they still made it work for me. I was able to add Michael Kors sunglasses for only 50 dollars extra, which was such a great deal. No pressure, no upselling, just honest pricing and great service. I highly recommend Golden Vision Optometry to anyone looking for quality care at a reasonable price.

I had a great experience working with Sharon while selecting my new glasses. She was knowledgeable, patient, and took the time to explain lens options and help me choose frames that fit my style and prescription. She consistently followed up with the lab to ensure my order was on track, which I really appreciated. Friendly, professional, and attentive—I highly recommend Sharon.
I went to Golden Vision for an eye exam and decided to purchase prescription sunglasses using my insurance frame allowance. I was upsold on 1.6 high-index lenses for an ADDITIONAL $136, with the justification that my prescription (-4.00) would otherwise look thick and unflattering. The result? The sunglasses I received had noticeably thick lenses—thicker than any glasses I’ve owned. For comparison, I ordered a separate pair online the same day, also with 1.6 high-index lenses, and paid only $42.95 for that upgrade. Those lenses were significantly thinner, cost far less overall (~$70 total), and arrived 1–2 weeks earlier. When I raised concerns in-store, I was given inconsistent and unconvincing explanations (including blaming “American labs” vs. overseas labs), none of which addressed the core issue: I paid more for a clearly inferior result. After waiting to speak with a supervisor, I was told essentially the same thing and offered a $20 voucher for a future visit—which I declined because I had no intention of ever returning at that point. I’m not someone who complains or makes a scene, but this felt like I got completely taken advantage of. Bottom line: I paid a premium expecting quality and received the opposite. Poor value, questionable upselling, and no meaningful resolution. Based on this experience, I would strongly caution others to think twice before purchasing lenses here. I won’t be returning.
Dr. Jackson Ma is excellent — patient, kind, and very thorough. He took the time to review my retinal scan in detail and gave me helpful recommendations for my dry eyes. I never felt rushed and really appreciated how clearly he explained everything. The front desk staff was courteous, and there was no wait when I went on a Thursday afternoon. There is also plenty of parking outside. I also love the strip mall location. It’s convenient to have so many food options and Ranch 99 nearby, so you can easily get your grocery shopping done while getting your eyes checked.
There is a placard that as of date says they are low on staff. In my experience, I patiently waited for my turn. No one attended me. After a while I approached one of the staff members. Although I noticed they were talking to other customers nicely, I on the other hand, felt very unwelcomed. Overall, I personally felt the vibe was off. The doctor was very nice. But everything apart from doctor was meh.
