I chose this vision institute for a vision enhancement procedure, and six months later, I deeply regret that decision. Based on my evaluation, I was recommended PRK. In my opinion, the pain and recovery were significantly understated. Nothing prepared me for what followed. My eyes were swollen shut for five days, I required strong prescription pain medication, and the recovery was far more difficult than I was led to expect. Six months later, my vision is worse than it was before surgery. Before PRK, both of my eyes had the same prescription. Now, one eye is farsighted while the other is nearsighted, making my vision more difficult to manage than it ever was before. I also developed severe dry eye, something I had never experienced prior to surgery. I’m now dependent on frequent eye drops, contact lens solution, and I’m back to wearing contacts. Between the procedure itself and the ongoing costs of managing these complications, I’m over $5,000 out of pocket and continue to spend hundreds of dollars on eye care supplies. What has been most disappointing is the lack of accountability. Rather than acknowledging that my outcome has been poor, my surgeon attributed my vision problems to my recent pregnancy. While pregnancy can somewhat affect vision, having my concerns dismissed this way felt invalidating instead of reassuring (and frankly like gaslighting). The practice has offered to perform another enhancement within two years. However, because I’m now pregnant, I will lose a significant portion of that window. I cannot safely undergo another PRK during pregnancy, nor is it realistic to do so immediately after giving birth while caring for a newborn - especially considering how debilitating the first recovery was. I sincerely hope they are ultimately able to improve my vision, and if they do, I will gladly update this review. As things stand today, however, I regret choosing this vision institute. I wish I had been given a more realistic understanding of the pain, recovery, and the possibility of ending up with worse vision and lifelong complications than I had before surgery.

I had the LAL cataract surgery. It seemed pricey but I certainly got my monies worth and more. I had a previous RK, and an astigmatism. Every person working there has the demeanor of truly caring for the patients. Dr. Gordon is charming, competent and very professional. He instills utmost confidence. Katy at the surgery desk is efficient and caring. Julio instills calm and confidence. Dr. Kasai not only performed my adjustments, but doctored me through a serious bout of dry eye. Without her care, my results would not have been what they were. My vision is 20/20. I need glasses for nothing. I highly recommend this practice.
I called Gordon Schanzlin New Vision Institute about 30 minutes before closing with a corneal abrasion. The office staff was exceptionally professional and kind and accommodated me, especially Rose, who quickly took my history and got me in. Dr. Echegoyen examined my eye, clearly explained the treatment plan, and prescribed the necessary medication. I am so grateful for their care and highly reccomend this clinic.
I had the most amazing time at Gordon schanzlin new vision clinic. The two girls Grayson and Vivian were very friendly and helpful. Dr. Geffen was very kind and explained everything thoroughly and left me feeling great knowing the status of my vision. All in all glad I came here and not somewhere else and feel confident with the tips I received and the service from the whole team.
I would recommend Gordon Schanzlin New Vision Institute to anyone! I had LASIK performed last week and received top notch care from the initial consultation through to the post-op follow up. Everyone was so kind and made the process extremely easy. I felt calm and really trusted the knowledge of everyone I spoke with. I am not normally one to leave reviews but felt I had to share my great experience here, as they truly went above and beyond and exceeded my expectations. You won’t be disappointed!
