I’ve had an appointment on the books for a year. I received 6+ appointment confirmations and when I went in they told me Dr. Sara Julazadeh, OD was not at this location and in another near the border some 45 minutes away. The doctor that was taking her appointments doesn’t accept insurance. I found this out after overhearing it when another patient was surprised by that comment and had to pay out of pocket! Being I was told to take a seat while 2 others that came after were checked in prior to my place in queue but at least heard this. $6 in parking, $10+ in gas, and 2 hours wasted. I asked the young lady why I wasn’t contacted and they explained “they must not have gotten through”. I have voicemail, text, and email all 3 of which confirmed my appointment but zero communication around my doctor choosing to not honor my appointment. I was charged last year when it should have been covered by insurance. I liked the doctor and gave them another try but this day cost me $500+. I tried to reschedule but couldn’t find suitable availability as I’m dealing with serious medical issues and have very few free days that didn’t align with their availability. I’m very upset and with the appointment cancellation I have to now find a new doctor. Zero compassion so go elsewhere if you want consistency and doctors that actually care more than the numbers game. Someone should have emailed, called, or texted me. I am not well and these hours were wasted when I could have used them to address other medical issues. I’m extremely disappointed with Dr.Sara Julazadeh, OD and Eye Care of La Jolla. I’d recommend finding a more consistent optometrist service. They have a ton of patients and care zero about losing folks or actually helping.

Highway robbery. For some reason I had to pay a contact lenses fitting fee but they didn't even have my contacts in stock to be fitted or looked at by the doctor. They ordered my lenses and told me I would have to come pick them up in a week but the doctor wasn't even going to look at them in a week, I would just take them home to see how I like them. So explain to me what the doctor is doing in this "fitting"??? In addition, I have to pay $75 for them to give me my contact lenses prescription to be able to order them elsewhere. They also don't mention that parking is only free for 30 minutes AND they don't validate. Mind you, I had to wait 3 times in the waiting room for different people to see me. Cash grab for whatever they can get to be honest. When I wrote this review on Yelp, I received a reply from the business where they requested I reach out to them via email. It has been over a week since I reached out and I have followed up as well, but have not gotten any response. Seems like they only publicly respond to this so it looks like they care and are resolving things when that doesn't seem to be the case. Continues to show how dishonest this business is. Definitely DO NOT recommend.

Dr. Sheils is great. She takes however much time she needs to give comprehensive care to her patients. She read the extensive records I brought from my previous ophthalmologist. She also read the history I provided on intake. She explained my condition and we devised a plan for future appointments. I highly recommend her to anyone!!!

Dr. Allen was warm, thorough and patient with my Mom’s questions. She had a great chair side manner. Alma in the front office was also friendly and helpful. She checked us out with eye contact and a welcoming smile. As the face of the Practice, that means so much.

I was accidentally late to my appointment because I got lost. They had no issue with that. As soon as I finished my new patient paperwork I was taken back right away and each little test I needed, they were ready for me and I didn't have to wait for anything. I commented to the staff that they are truly running a well-oiled machine and was very impressed. Definitely confident they will take care of me for everything I need.
