Hawthorne Optometry

I had my first appointment today and it was a great experience! My mother Tresa referred me and I’m glad I listened. The front desk staff greeted me and made sure that I was processed and seen on time. Dr. Maanum was fantastic! He greeted me and listened to my concerns. At the end, I selected my glasses with one of the assistants (who was a pleasure). We had a fun time and I’m so excited : )

I highly recommend Hawthorne Optometry/Dr. Maanum! I have been going to him for over 10 years and used to frequent his other office in West LA when I lived in that area - I have enjoyed going to Dr. Maanum so much that I of course was glad to see he has a South Bay location as well, now that I live in the South Bay! He and his staff are very knowledgable, patient and friendly. I have horrible eye sight, but I am able to see just fine because of Dr. Maanum and his staff! The office is small but well-maintained and he and his staff stay up-to-date in regards to eye health equipment and tools. They have a nice variety of eye wear (disclosure I have only purchased contact lenses from them; noting I use vision insurance). There is a small parking lot in front; otherwise there is 1 hour parking on Inglewood Ave (not metered), or you can check the neighborhoods (be mindful of street cleaning times). I wholeheartedly recommend Hawthorne Optometry!

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Maanum at his West Los Angeles. After moving to the South Bay, and trying a new optometrist closer to home, I didn’t have the same experience, so it was an easy decision to return. I'm so happy to have found his other office in the South Bay! He is kind, thorough, knowledgeable, and always takes the time to address any concerns. His staff is also incredibly kind and helpful, they help figure out my insurance coverage and answered all my questions and concerns. I highly recommend this office to anyone looking for quality eye care. They are awesome!

I had an appointment a few weeks ago that was very easy to make online and didn't have a long wait to be seen. They allow you to fill out your new patient forms online and so I did. When I arrived they were prompt. I did not stay in a waiting room any time at all, and the online forms actually worked! They didn't have me manually fill out the intake forms again. Through no fault of Hawtorne Optometry, during my exam I increasingly became very, very nauseated. I am prone to car sickness and had felt poorly when I arrived to the appointment. I guess all the changes in the lenses sent me over the edge. I was too ill to continue my appointment. The staff were so kind and accommodating. They provided me water and ensured I could come back once I felt better. Today I returned for the balance of my appointment. Again, very prompt. No waiting. Dr. Nakada explained everything to me in clear terms and I got a prescription that gave me instant relief. I've never worn glasses and I had no idea I was down that bad. Apparently I have been STRUGGLING, cuz my whole body relaxed. I got some cute frames, they explained the add on options and the benefits of each, and they made sure I was able to maximize my insurance coverage. Great experience!

I love the experience I have when I visit. The staff and doctors are very professional and friendly. The office is super clean and refreshing. It’s always a pleasure when I attend my appointments.
