While my eye appointment went fine, there were a couple of things I have certain ‘feelings’ about, Perhaps I’m old school, there are certain aspects I feel that are important to those of us suffering from more than one impairment per eye that the doctor can and should still hone. That’s the final adjusting of the “lenses “ in the eye piece. When I asked exactly what does the doctor do, specifically? I was told by the tech that “oh our doctors aren’t like those at glasses stores. They actually care about the health of the eyes..”. That’s quite a bold statement. I asked said tech what a couple of things were specifically for ( designed for) fully knowing the answers. He did not. The doctor spent less than 5 minutes with me and I was there for 2 1//2 almost 3 hours. I’ve been in and out at other practitioners offices in less than an hour and had all the bells and whistles that are performed at Heaton. After I posted this review , I noticed that there are several reviews. I find it telling that the owner only responded to the 5 star/ excellent reviews that only had praise. Not a public response to the disabled veteran who posted a not so “praiseworthy“ review. I wonder if my review will have a response from said owner?

Everyone was courteous and professional. The entire office is extremely organized. Many of the employees have been with Heaton for years which is impressive. Dr. Risner was great. He was personable, explained everything, and answered my questions.
I'm surprised at all the five star reviews! I brought my grandson to Heaton and it took almost 3 hours for us to get everything completed. I was later told by the receptionist that the time it took was standard! The doctor, when we finally saw her, was nice and conpetent, but was rushed and didn't get to spend much time with us. She ended up asking us to come back for a follow up appointment to be absolutely certain of the prescription. While I admire the thoroughness of the physician, I am dreading coming back to Heaton. Who wants to spend another half day waiting to be seen? Sadly, I recommend going to another optometrist if you need standard eyecare, especially for children!
Always have a good experience with Heaton, professional yet friendly. My most recent apt was with Dr Marsh. Very comforting, knowledgeable and friendly. From Eye examination to cataract surgery to YAG surgery. All the staff have been excellent to work with.
Several years back I had Lasik surgery performed by Heaton Longview office on both eyes. Sunday afternoon I had something get into my left eye and thought I succeeded in removing it. Monday morning I awoke in pain with blurred vision. Called Heaton Longview to get an appointment to see the doctor. I was informed by customer service that they had a $408 self pay amount to be seen for a foreign object in the eye. Inform them that I was a disabled American veteran with 100% disability to see if that charge could be adjusted. That didn't matter at all. I thought maybe with a history with this clinic there might be a chance of being seen. I called the VA and they sent me straight to the ER. Whatever has it was in my eye was gone but the surface of my eye was scratched severely. Heaton still attempts to contact me to have I exams done but they weren't there in my time of need.
