Hiemstra Optical - Plainwell

So when i first walked in, i was a little put off by their receptionist but after meeting everyone else...they went so far above and beyond that i will always come back here and recommend them to friends and family. I walked in with so much anxiety about this appointment i wanted to cry, but Dr. Bell helped me through my appt one step at a time. She had a really calm tone, she was professional and answered every question i had completely and thoroughly (no matter how silly), she reminded me that i was doing well, she let me take breaks when i needed to, and she was patient with me, she didnt make me feel small or crappy, she was validating and reassuring. Everyone there was quick and thorough and very nice. This was just a routine appt for me but it was hard because i have anxiety and struggle with even routine appts so the care this place put into my appointment made such a difference! Everyone i encountered from the doctor to when i was picking out my glasses was a pleasure to work with. I loved it here because you got more of the one on one care...they have the ability to give you and your appointment the attention you deserve.

I took my 94 yo mom there to get her glasses repaired that had been broken in a fall. The receptionist was incredibly rude. I.was not allowed to speak. Every time I tried to say something she gestured for me to stop speaking even when I tried to speak to my mom to help her decide what to do. She even got mad at me when I didn’t respond to her apology as she expected. I contacted Customer Service twice to speak to them about this experience but never got a call back. I’m sure they do a reasonable job selling new glasses but aren’t helpful with repairs. I’d give them negative stars if it was possible.

My lens popped out. They had it back together in 5 minutes. Thank you for the great service!

I had a great experience at this office. Everyone at the office was very professional and prompt. I had a great exam and had new glasses and contacts within 2 weeks. Everything fits well and I can now see better than ever.

The front desk woman with dark hair is extremely disconnected. she doesn't listen to what you say thinking she is constantly right even tho getting orders incorrect, calling you when things are not here. She sits on a power trip the whole time your talking to her or trying to make an appointment. The rest of the staff is great and I love the location. I been coming here since I was a child. But this time I think I had enough I can't stand talking to the receptionist. I think I'm going to Allegan eye care from now on with my family.
