Dr. Hawthorne is an amazing ophthalmologist— she took the time to explain keratoconus to my 15 year old and even illustrated the condition on a piece of paper for him. We are so grateful to have his eyesight under her care!

My husband went for an annual eye exam. His insurance covers the exam, they were even contacted by an insurance representative. They still charged for the exam, and stated they would reimburse once they received payment. It’s their policy. I have never had another Drs office do this. There are too many Drs to choose from to treat your patients this way. Staff were very professional and attentive. But next year we will go elsewhere.
Had a thorough and well-done eye examination at Howerton Eye (Eiger location) last week by Dr Kelly and the other staff there. I was seen right ‘on time’ and the technician took his time administering the drops and doing the preliminary items. A short time later Dr Kelly cross-checked the prescription, explained particulars of my eye structure & hie it was evolving with my aging, discussed but did not ‘push’ for anything else to be done at this time. Will return in a year.
My appointment and experience at Howerton Eye Clinic yesterday was five star from start to finish. I had a diabetic eye exam. I was treated warmly and professionally by all staff from check in to check out. All my questions and concerns were addressed. I highly recommend Howerton Eye Clinic and Dr Kelley for your vision needs.
The wait for scheduled appointment time is exorbitantly too long & can be problematic especially if you are reliant on others for transportation or you are a single parent with little to no external support so this also matters when you have a schedule that demands yourself being timely at showing up for child to drop off or pick up from school or otherwise. I was 6th patient in the waiting room & each of us all waited anywhere from an extra half hour up to hour and half after our scheduled appointment times. So it reflects maybe squeezing so many into too short time slots. This was the same concern I have noticed historically speaking with appointments. I actually in remembering this similar experience my first time made sure to schedule my appointment for what I thought would be a better time in case of this happening again because of the eye dilation and having to make sure also this would be wear off hopefully in enough time before I would have to see and deal with my special needs teen and school homework. Thank you though Dr. Hawthorne is excellent. So just be sure to plan enough time and expect a long wait.
