This ER is the worst. There is lack of care from security, to registration, to medical staff. We’ve been in here a few times and I have yet to come across an EVS worker in the waiting room. This waiting room does not look like it’s regularly cleaned, wiped down, or dusted. We come here bcus Loyola is where our records are and it’s the closest ER - given we need to come to an ER. My husband and I have worked registration in a hospital ER, so we are familiar with a lot of things, so we have expectations of how things should be - but here, we’ve yet to have a decent experience. Any visit to an ER is dreaded, but it’s worst if you can already anticipate terrible service.

In June 2026, I was to be admitted to have surgery followed by 6 weeks of inpatient recovery. Prior to my surgery, I read the reviews for Loyola to get an idea regarding how my stay would be. Needless to say, I was discouraged and became very anxious after reading the reviews posted by others. I actually had to stop reading them out of fear that my stay would become a nightmare. But then I prayed. I asked The Lord to calm my anxiety and to take away my fears. I brought every concern regarding my upcoming hospitalization to Him. And I rested in His faithfulness. I have since been discharged and I just wanted to share my experience at Loyola as an inpatient. My Care Team which included the Doctors, Nurses, Techs, Case Manager, even the Housekeeper that cleaned my room, made my stay as pleasant as humanly possible. Was it easy, no it wasn’t by any stretch of the imagination. But I experienced the medical care and kindness of each person that was responsible for me during my stay. My surgery team kept me informed and cared for me physically, medically, and even at time emotionally. My nurses were the best I’ve ever experienced (and I’ve been in enough hospitals to know the difference between good and bad nurses). And my PCTs, were kind, supportive , and took the time to just talk to me. Every concern I had from reading prior reviews posted, every fear and anxious thought never became my reality. I’m thankful to Loyola 4South surgery unit and my surgical team for their professionalism and care during my stay. But most of all I’m thankful to God for hearing and answering my prayers and the prayers of those who prayed for me.

Laura Smyth has been an incredible part of my journey through three open-heart surgeries over the past few years. Her experience, knowledge, and professionalism are truly outstanding, but what makes her exceptional is the genuine care and compassion she shows her patients. Laura always took the time to listen to my concerns, answer my questions, and make me feel heard and respected. During some of the most difficult moments of my life, she treated me not just as a patient, but as a person. Her kindness, patience, and human touch gave me comfort, confidence, and hope when I needed it most. I am deeply grateful for everything she has done for me. Loyola is fortunate to have someone of her caliber on their team. I highly recommend Laura to anyone seeking expert cardiovascular care from a provider who truly cares about her patients. Thank you, Laura, for your dedication, compassion, and the difference you have made in my life.

I have been in and out of the hospital. It’s been so busy since west suburban shut down. Going to the emergency room had been a long wait two out of five times. Yup 10 hours. But they apologized for the wait and I got the best treatment and the nurse was so sweet. The others nurses from my other visits were as caring and personable and sweet to me. The level of professionalism is also very appreciated. It’s hard to keep up with all the doctors coming in and out. But Dr Schwartz and Dr Cole did a great job taking my illness seriously. I have a staff infection in my right knee from a fall after surgery last year at another hospital. Infection is in the knee and shins. Surgery went well and I am recovering. Having to go back for checkups. I love Loyola it’s not perfect but what is my advice is you be nice first. And the care will follow. Dr Patel from Infectious Diseases is one of the doctors that cares for me and ThePA for Dr Schwarz, L. Blazek is also caring for me. When I emailed them they always get back to me in a timely manner. Thank you Marita Vasquez

I am a patient right now in the Hospital. I was brought in by my Village Paramedics for possiblely suffering a possible Stroke.I went thru ER and then given a room in the ICU stroke and drama unit. They were very very good but when they moved me to a regular room what a difference. There nurses and staff in the regular part of the hospital are the bottom of the barrel they don’t get the quality anymore of employees. I will be leaving before they can get a proper diagnosis for if I wait I will be leaving in a pine box
