My eye doctor retired and sent me to Dr. Lum's practice. It was not a good experience. First of all, Dr. Liao made an off hand comment about my cataract surgery result from my previous opthomologist. She was also very cold and clinical. My biggest criticism is that the practice has Medicare and your supplement send you checks(which never cover the bill). Then when you pay the bill there is always a $1.00-$2.00 amount owed. I have had Medicare for 20 years and this has NEVER happened before. No matter how competent the doctors may be, I would definitely NOT recommend this practice!

Dr Lum is great but the patient experience is poor. Every visit feels like a slow motion cattle call with significant delays and lots of waiting in a packed waiting room. No way to keep distance from other patients who coughed repeatedly - I hope I didn’t catch something. Today I waited 40 min for the first tests and the whole process for an annual exam took 2.5 hours.
Although the staff is great and Dr. Lum very kind, he has trouble with patients that don't have a perfect experience. My vision is worse - by far - since the cataract surgery. Even my good eye is worse. He just says he doesn't know what it can be. They know I'm unhappy and just don't reach out for follow ups any longer. My husband had surgery with Dr. Lum and is also not happy with his outcome. Since Dr. Lum took over for another doctor that retired the place is like a cattle call. Every seat taken. They move you around to different rooms to do different tests - there must be a dozen rooms with different tests to bill for. And yet, no answer to my issues. I would not recommend him.
I have been see Dr. Bryant J Lum for over 30 plus years. I am so grateful to have someone as compassionate and dedicated as Dr. Lum caring for me. I feel secure knowing he understand my history and exactly what I need.
An office representative called me earlier in the week asking me to change my appointment from 9:15 am to 8:15 am. I agreed and showed up for my appointment at 8:10. I was checked in and had to WAIT for 30 minutes before being seen. The procedure events were efficient and the visit was just fine but waiting 30 minutes when I agreed to change my appointment time to accommodate your office staff was not something I will do again.
