We are so grateful for all the students & DOs that helped our children with vision therapy. The support they gave them - especially Dr Allred was amazing and the therapy helped them improve their academic and sports performance. They are all patient focused from the moment you step in you are greeted with positive energy and each interaction we had with the optometry team was outstanding. Last year my son had a strange allergic reaction to a medication he was miss prescribed and Dr. Javed saved the day- she diagnosed him and advised us on the best treatment for it. She was efficient and patient with a scarred litlle boy.

My daughter had our appt with Dr. Le and Dr. Huang in the pediatric TBI clinic as she has difficulty reading and is unable to attend school. I drove us over an hour to the appointment because the clinic was so highly recommended. During the parent interview with Dr. Hwang (Huang?) I noticed she had written something inaccurate in my daughter’s note and when I asked her to correct it she appeared to become very angry and confronted me which made me very uncomfortable. I almost left the clinic to speak with the front desk about this, but my daughter was in the other room with Dr. Le. When I relayed this to the attending Dr. Bansal she said “but when she (Dr. Huang) works with students they love her” which meant nothing for my situation. I will not be returning as I would be scared to trust her with my child in the future if she were to become angry with them in the room and I was not present to stop her. At the end I was not given an explanation about why children with TBI would benefit from vision therapy, but I was invited to bring her there and pay $500 because she “needs it”. When I asked for a research study to read they could not provide me with one, which is pathetic coming from a research institute charging money for vision therapy. I’m also not paying for a student to work with my child for that amount of money! My daughter’s ophthalmologist recommends against vision therapy. Driving an hour each way once a week is a lot for me when there are clinics closer to our house, so I was hoping to get specialized information from this clinic. We did not see Dr. Borsting as I hoped. At the end I paid $160 and left, but I was not given the results of the evaluation, or any hope that my child will ever be able to read well enough to attend school. What would vision therapy do for her? I have no idea. I also do not think Dr. Huang should be continuing to work with patients due to her temper and demeanor, as I have never been made so uncomfortable by an optometry student, and do not want to see her ever again or have her see my child. Also the attending appeared perfectly comfortable to endorse her angry behavior which also scared me.
