I had a lovely experience here as a new patient. The entire staff was exceedingly kind and helpful. I also saw many staffers stopping to say a quick hello to a patient they recognized in the hall as they walked by. My vision situation is a little complicated, but Dr. Johnson was the first ophthalmologist I’ve seen who immediately got it. He had clearly considered my vision experience in advance and walked in with an idea ready for how best to address it on a deeply empathetic and realistic level. He was also very kind, and he explained the state of my vision in great, specific detail, which I appreciated. I would absolutely recommend this team.

Had to go in on 6/2 due to an eye injury. The doctors were professional and helped me quickly. My issue however was when I was leaving. Per the woman checking me in I had to pay my deductible before I would be allowed to leave. An amount of $85.82. I am used to receiving a bill in the mail some time after an appointment with my insurance adjusted amount and communicated that to the woman at the counter. She informed me that they did not do that and I need to pay immediately. Given that I was in extreme pain I complied just to end the interaction. This did not sit right with me so I checked with my insurance today 6/12 and I can see that me deductible was $58.11. I called in and asked for an explanation on the discrepancy. The person on the phone was not able to provide one but did say she'll request a refund for the overpayment. I pressed for further details but was told no further details could be provided. I asked how to ensure this did not happen again and was told by the billing department to refuse paying at the time of checkout. So heads up for everyone if they tell you the bill is due immediately, just say no.

Their customer service is ridiculous. Had a woman tell me my exam was covered but I should call my insurance to see if I’d have to pay for glasses. Turns out I’m covered. I call back only to speak to a guy saying I might not be covered even though I gave him the same information I gave the woman. She checked and said I was good. I asked the guy to check and he said there was no way he could do that. Please tell your customer service to get their stories straight. I wasted 15 minutes of my life to get absolutely nowhere.

This office is very well organized. The staff were able to answer my questions. My wait time was minimal. Dr. Raphtis is thorough and takes the time to listen to your concerns without feeling rushed.

Denise and Bruce did an excellent and thorough job of checking us in and closing us out during our mist and both were friendly, helpful and patient throughout. Nolan did comprehensive initial testing and evaluation and was knowledgeable and customer-focused and professional. Dr. Johnson explained our condition thoroughly and completely and offered options on treatment going forward, and he is a joy and great help each visit, and Christina captured our information well. Thanks all at MEI.
