Mitchel Ashkanazy MD

My eye doctor is on vacation and Dr. Ashkanazy is covering for her. I called the office yesterday for what I thought was an emergency. Dr. Ashkanazy gave me a thorough exam, handed me a coupon for an over-the-counter medication and suggested I try that for a few days before filling a prescription for an expensive medication. I used the over-the-counter drops one time and viola!! My so called emergency is almost completely gone. I have rarely been as impressed with a doctor as I am with Dr. Ashkanazy!

I have been Doctor Ashkanazy's patient for at least 15 years, and I've recently had 2 spectacularly successful cataract surgeries. I am extremely grateful and appreciative of the care, attention to detail, bedside manner and explaining things to me and answering all my questions, in addition to the results that I am now experiencing which are amazing. I am also appreciative of the office staff who were always helpful and accommodating, especially working out some challenges that occurred with the paperwork for the surgery center. Stuff happens, and everything was resolved in time for the surgery to take place, thanks to the office support staff. Thank you all again with my sincerest gratitude and appreciation for all of you involved in my care.

My preteen has some vision issues and this office came highly recommend. However from the first step into the room it was less than welcoming. The tech who did her initial screening barely talked to her. He didn’t say hello, or talk really at all. Not very welcoming to a kid!! Even the doctor walked in and didn’t speak for first few minutes. What the heck? Have you ever met a child!?!? Might be great for adults but not happy with the complete lack of bedside manner. Not even bad manners just total lack!!!!

I Had a 10 am apportionment, walked out at 11:15am without seeing the doctor. 60+ minute delay at 10am. Great organization!

This Dr. is unbelievably rude and obnoxious.i took my 15 yo daughter there to get fitted for contacts and because she couldn’t get the contacts in And out of her eye we had to keep going back before they would issue her the contacts. Our last trip there, I requested that he let her sit at a table and mirror rather than him holding a mirror 2 inches from her face which made her uncomfortable. He got annoyed. Then I requested no eye drops in her eyes bc they made her eyes burn. He slammed the eye drops down on the table and kicked us out. Yelling at me saying that I was being confrontational. I’m sorry but if I request no eye drops, then NO EYE DROPS. I’m the patient and my requests should be honored rather than being told to get out and don’t come back. The place is so outdated, you can totally tell it’s a hostile work environment too. All the employees seem stressed and are unfriendly. The assistant that you see before the doctor hasn’t smiled since 1985. LOL. The doctor is old and grumpy and completely condescending. Do yourself a favor and find another eye doctor. This guy should retire.
