North Carolina Eye Ear Nose & Throat

I am giving 3 stars to reflect two very different experiences at this practice. First, the contact lens fitting with Dr. Chaudhary was excellent—definitely 5 stars for that service. Unfortunately, my experience with the throat/voice specialist was very disappointing. The vocal cord examination was quite uncomfortable, causing a lot of gagging, and resulted in blurry images that didn't help move my treatment forward. After over a year with no improvement in my condition, I consulted my primary care physician and sought a second opinion with Dr. Buckmire at UNC. The difference was night and day. The evaluation procedure with Dr. Buckmire was smooth and effortless, producing clear images right away. Within a couple of months of treatment under his care, my voice was fully restored. While I appreciate the optometry department, I would recommend seeking a second opinion elsewhere for specialized voice care to save yourself time and frustration.

Dr. Li did an amazing job on my eyelid. I had an infection that blocked a gland and built up scar tissue. I was nervous about having somebody cut into my eyelid but he had great bedside manner and in about 25 minutes had cleaned it all out and it looks great just like the other side. The whole process was entirely painless. I was able to take off the bandage in the see fine by the time I got home.

I would give no stars if I could. Optimetrist Geeta Chowdhary recommended an excessively strong contact-lens prescription that would have left me unable to read, then suggested very expensive bifocal contacts. When I questioned her recommendation, she became confrontational and nearly shouted at me. Another optometrist later confirmed my regular, longstanding prescription. I was also shocked to be charged $724 for this visit, with $235 due out of pocket. A very upsetting experience… I will not return.

From kiosk check-in (and watching interactions with staff and other patients) to seeing the audiologist, to sitting briefly with a medical assistant, then speaking with Dr. Yu about the pressure in my ears, I felt like it was a very friendly. Relaxed. Educational, and acknowledged, helpful visit. Based on today's first visit as a new patient (early morning appt). I would recommend for ear problems. Cannot speak for other services.

It took 4 weeks for my glasses to be made and when they did arrive the prescription was "wildly" incorrect per the optician. I was told a voicemail was left with an update about the incorrect prescription but I never received a call or a voicemail. My HSA did not accept their charge without additional documentation. These were explained as problems with the glasses manufacturer, my HSA, and my phone. I was hoping for a better experience than an online retailer, but will go back to them for my next pair of glasses.
