This Hospital is becoming worse and worse. Every time I come here they make the dumbest changes. Like why take away parking from visitors and give it to doctors and employees. Today I went there to see my mom and the visitor lot they had they had half of it blocked off because they were setting up for some kind of party. Like utilize the employee parking lot not visitors. Half of their doctors and nurses only care about their paycheck. They can care less about the patient or their family. My mom had one surgeon who absolutely has no bedside care whatsoever I was in their waiting room and waited hours for him to come out and talk to me and if I didn’t check with recovery I would still be sitting there. This hospital cares more about peoples money then they do about health. As a 501C3 they are fast to beg you for money. What a joke of a hospital. Do better Northwell

On 5/12 SIUH North claims they contacted my mom on my grandma's passing. (They said 4 to 5 attempts) My mom has not 1 missed call or voicemail. (And yes, I verified the number on file.) Apparently my grandma passed around 1130am (about an hour after my mom left to go home) and we didnt get to the hospital until about 6pm to get the biggest shock of our life. They already had her body in the morgue. We never had one last goodbye, nothing. The medical system failed us, instead of grieving, I am really pissed off and just heartbroken. I need advice please.
I had both my prenatal care and delivery at Staten Island University Hospital, and I can confidently say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Scheduling appointments during pregnancy was always easy, and wait times were minimal (usually around 15–20 minutes). The office is clean, well-organized, and runs very efficiently. The staff is professional, responsive, and attentive—everything feels structured and under control, which really matters during pregnancy. But what truly stood out was the delivery experience. The entire team was incredibly professional, calm, and precise. They listened to me, respected my preferences, and made sure I understood everything happening. All the fear I had during pregnancy disappeared the moment I realized I was in the hands of a highly skilled and coordinated team. That level of trust is priceless. Postpartum care exceeded my expectations. Nurses were always available, supportive, and ready to help at any moment. They guided me through everything I needed to know about recovery and caring for my baby. All necessary checks and procedures were done thoroughly and with great attention. The rooms are modern, clean, and comfortable, with space for a partner to stay, which made a huge difference. The environment is quiet and well-managed—no chaos, no stress. This hospital provides everything you need for both mom and baby, which allows you to focus on recovery and bonding. I highly recommend Staten Island University Hospital to any expecting mother. If you want to feel safe, supported, and truly cared for—this is the place.
The doctors and er staff are the worse. Their bedside manner is so cold and uncaring. When you ask a question they provide robotic answers. They take forever to give test results. All the staff act as if you are bothering them and they would rather be some where else. This is the last time that I ever bring someone or myself to this hell hole for any kind of treatment. They use to give better service some of the best, I don't know what happened but they want get a second chance to treat me or anyone in my family with this horrible care. From now on I will goto Richmond University Medical
My mom had to be admitted for an emergency and we had never been to SIUH before. The night we got in was particularly stressful, as the hospital was full and there were a lot of patients that needed care. While no one can say a hospital visit is pleasant, it's in the quality of care and the people who are by your side when you feel helpless and can't do much except trust the experts. And those experts were Nurse Patricija from the ER, Nurse Vivian Eadicicco, and Dr. Varum Chowdhry. They were exceedingly proficient, gentle, answered all of our questions, and made us feel much better with our elderly mother in their care. I cannot thank them enough for their professionalism and their attention to detail. While they may see it as merely "doing their jobs", we appreciate everything that goes into their very demanding professions and them still going above and beyond to give our mother good care. Thank you so much for being by our side during this time.
