People never tend to make positive reviews for the medical field. But the experience my mother had while at NYU is something to write about. From the house keeping all the way to the admitting doctors all were so professional, kind and compassionate. Everyone we came into contact with approached with a smile and kindness. Even while I the ED and it got busy the staff still made it their priority to keep that compassion top tier. The bed side manner of doctor Varma (cardiologist) was absolutely amazing. The medical field has been lacking that type of bedside manner for a long time.

My mother recently had a partial thyroid removal at NYU Langone in Patchogue, and I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about this hospital. The experience was incredible from start to finish. Every staff member we encountered was kind, attentive, and compassionate from the moment we checked in until the moment she was discharged. I wish I remembered all of the nurses’ names, because they were all amazing, but one nurse in particular stood out in the PACU — Catharine. She took such great care of my mom, made her laugh, and had such a warm sense of humor that instantly put us at ease. She made us feel like family during a stressful time. Her surgeon, Dr. Liou, was also outstanding. She had excellent bedside manner, which can be hard to find, and made my mother feel comfortable, cared for, and confident throughout the entire process. I would highly recommend NYU Langone Patchogue to anyone. We are so grateful for the exceptional care and support we received.
The list of atrocities my wife experienced at this hospital is very long but I will try to keep it short by condensing it to a few bullets: 1. She arrived feeling unstable on her feet, nauseous, with very high blood sugar. She was discharged from the hospital feeling unstable, nauseous and very high blood sugar. 2. She was never given a diagnosis or treatment plan. Different doctors gave her completely different hypothesis. None followed up with. 3. Each day they threatened to discharge her although she was still unstable on her feet 4. Each day we called Care Management and patient advocacy to talk with who assured us better coordination between the medical team and no discharge without treatment plan. They did nothing. 5. They discharged her by wheeling her outside , and left her standing outside the hospital for 45 minutes in the hot sun still unstable on her feet. 6. They would not contact any outpatient doctors for her to follow up with AND they did not give her any prescriptions for symptoms, including one for diabetes med that she was out of. Her blood sugar was 264. We have received good care from every other NYU facility, but this one put her at great medical risk and complete negligence.
My bf had surgery in the Knapp building went in 830 am I was told someone would get me so i can see him before the surgery I asked the person 3 x when she came for her patients no one came . Then I waited and waited and waited no one came to tell how surgery went how as he was doing zero communication. I only got results AFTER I screamed in the lobby and cursed on the phone to speak with a supervisor . And security told me to not curse and scream. He was out of surgery at 1230 pm They FINALLY took me to see him 630ish.Never going there again. How would they like it if their family was having surgery and no o be told them any information for 8 hours.
The most horrible experience I have ever had at a hospital …. Yes I know emergency rooms can be chaotic but this place is the most unorganized hospital I have ever Been to …. The staff is rude and treat patients with an unkind attitude ……I sat in an uncleared room with urine specimens still in the room for three hours. I will never go back to that hospital . I will refuse! Terrible ! I got my blood work done and didn’t see a nurse for 5 hours! I kept asking if I could get some help all they told me was we will page the nurse when the nurse came or was a different one . So I basically waited for next shift ……the staffing issue needs to be fixed …… the patients aren’t receiving the best quality of care. If I had to grade this hospital it would be a D and that’s generous because it should be an F
