I went to Obermark Eyecare in Belle MO. I have never felt so humiliated in my life. This doctor needs to retire. First sat with office personnel and gave them my medical history. That took about 15 minutes. About 10 minutes later went I to the exam room with Dr Obermark. Apologies this is so long (This doctor snaps at you, talks to you like your and idiot and doesn’t have any bedside manners) Three times he told me to put my purse on the chair. I told him it was my oxygen and not a purse. After he finally looked at me he understood then he said just put it on the floor. So he’s reading through the information the lady upfront input and im answering his questions. After about 10 minutes he said you should have given me all this information sooner so I had more time to look it over! I was like omg the way he barked at me I felt like I was being scolded. Then he said he was going to dialate my eyes which he did and left my eyes dripping with the excess and wouldn’t let me dab my eyes with a tissue. Then he said put your left hand over your eye and tell me what you can see. I couldn’t see anything and he said how about now how about how about now shouting more irritated and getting louder. I said I can’t see anything I don’t know what letter it is. And he just barked at me louder and irritated. He did this with both eyes and my eyes were blurry and wet with the stuff he put on my eyes dripping and smearing around my eyes. This is where I started holding back tears trying to not cry. He then put the machine up to my face told me to rest my chin so I did. Then he said open your eyes and keep it opened and I couldn’t I tried. He literally puts his hands in my face and Pryed my eye opened his fingers slipping off my eye because it was still dripping wet from that stuff he put in eyes to dilate it and just kept saying keep your eye opened!! He did that to both of my eyes. Then he stops and says you have cataracts why didn’t you tell me you had cataracts. I said I didn’t know! Then He said i am changing this from an eye exam to a medical exam and sending you to someone who treats cataracts. I won’t be giving you a prescription for eye glasses. I said ok. I am fighting back tears now but my eyes are watering because of how harsh he is talking to me and he puts that machine in face that measures for eye lens. I don't know what it’s called. And kept flipping the lens up and down is this better or is this better. And my right eye i kept telling him I couldn’t see the letters and he just kept barking at me. I also couldn’t see because I was crying at this point. Pointless for this since he won’t be giving me a prescription for eye glasses and that’s what this machine is for. So needless to say i am NEVER going back there. I never in my life have had any doctor talk to or treat me this way. This man needs to retire. He made me feel like my appointment was an inconvenience for him and a waste of his time. As i am leaving I sit at the desk and as she is checking me out tells me it’s 40$ then Asked me to fill out a medical release form. Then told me they would send me a bill after they bill my insurance. I said I pay a flat fee i have Medicare advantage and a specialist is 40$ flat fee. Then she gave me my receipt after I paid my copay. Yesterday I got a bill in the mail from them for 40$. I called my insurance! 100% DO not recommend OBERMARK Eyecare in Belle Mo

My family and I have been with Obermark for many years, and we are very happy with them. The kindness and care they have for their patients is wonderful. Very friendly and very clean. Also, have a great selection of frames.

This man has no business treating children. I had an appointment set for my 11yo son, my 5yo daughter and myself. Unfortunately due to COVID, and my fiancé being an over the road truck driver whom we see once a month or so I am basically a single mom with 4 kids at home as I also have 3 month old twins. We barely make ends meet since I have been out of work since January and due to COVID I have been struggling to find a job and reliable childcare. When I made my appointment I made sure it was ok to bring my twins as I DO NOT have a sitter. The office staff ensured me it was fine. When we got there the office staff was friendly and understanding to a mom with 4 kids. They were kind and welcoming. They even offered to keep an eye on the twins outside the room for me so that I can focus on the appointment and the older kids. This is wonderful and I am grateful for the staff. The doctor however was rude and judgmental. My 11 year old was acting up a bit as we were walking into the room and I was trying to tell him to be quiet and the first thing the Dr did was reprimand me and my son by raising his voice and saying “Can we just get to this eye exam already!” We had barely sat down. Ok, so I am at this point embarrassed because my son was arguing and we were “yelled” at by the doctor. Then he starts to examine my daughter. She isn’t very tall and unfortunately the equipment was just a little too big. She had to sit uncomfortably tall just to be able to reach. The dr was impatient with her because she wasn’t sure what he was asking when he said things like “is this better or worse?” She is 5. The better question would be “does this help you see the lines better or are they kinda fuzzy?” She doesn’t really understand how the answers to the questions are directly related to her treatment. She was tired, cranky and just wanted to be done. He ended up having to dilate her eyes (when he put the medicine in her eye he was tougher than I thought he should be with her, but she was fighting and then he squirted so much in her eye it poured into her mouth 🤬) so that he could see better because a tired 5 year old isn’t easy to treat. At one point she said “I’m tired I want to go home” and his response was “I want to go home too but we have to deal with this so just listen to me”. He wasn’t kind or understanding with her in ANY way. Then it’s my sons turn because we have to wait for the drops to work on my daughters eye. He starts the exam, and my son is trying to explain what he is seeing and the doctor just cuts him off mid sentence and being rude and very short with him. At this point the lack of bedside manner from this man has frustrated me, but because a lot of places won’t take Medicaid for the exam I am trying to be calm. After my sons exam my daughter had to go to the bathroom so he opened the door and saw his staff holding my babies bottles for them and as they asked if my daughter needed the bathroom he is just standing there fuming and huffing. He then comes over to me and says “my staff is feeding your babies” I thought maybe he had lightened up so I chuckled and said “that’s really awesome they are so nice.”. He then proceeds to tell me that is not their job and I realize he is angry at me. I then get angry because it is at this point this “doctor” starts to tell me that I need to “get it together “ and find childcare if I have an appointment because it’s not his staffs job to help me out! At this point I am in tears and so angry all I want to do is tell him off and punch him in the face, but I really need new glasses and so does my daughter and he still isn’t done with her exam, so I grit my teeth and bear it. After he is done with my exam we bring my daughter back in and he rudely finishes her exam. After we were done getting examined we walked out to choose our glasses, and the lady that helped us with that saw how angry I was, and somehow new exactly what happened. She apologized as best she could and got us out of there as fast as she could. I am so sorry for the people who work for him! They are his saving grace!
