If I can't understand the bill, then they are not transparent. I received a bill for an eye exam 9 months ago. Why did they take so long to bill me ? it's conveniently passed the 65 day appeal period. I've only been here twice in two years and I was told the first time I had mild cataracts, but they didn't charge me. Now they feel they could charge me as a medical diagnosis when they didn't before. I'm 71, every eye doctor in the last several years has said I have mild cataracts and none of them have called it a billable medical diagnosis. So why this time. And then Bill me for 9 mo later. Let's be clear: 1. There have been in the past 4 categories of cataract observations beginning with mild all the way to impaired vision. None were listed, none were told to me. 2. There is a grading system for cataracts... They didn't grade my cataracts, and provide me with that information, but they obviously saw them as every other eye doctor has when they dilated my pupils. 9 mo later I get a bill and a notice of a medical diagnosis. Let's explore this theory of a medical diagnosis? I had a doctor look at the cracked skin on the heal of my foot and called it athletes foot without doing a KOH prep at the very least. Not a medical diagnosis and was wrong, and in my opinion no more than telling me I have dandruff, or acne...if so, then I've got friends that all must have a medical degrees. The doctor never did any test that were conclusive or definitive...unless you consider the dialation as the test, which is always done. None of the standard procedures, tests, and transparency was followed or observed and should have been reflected on my invoice. Nothing was written down on the invoice to clarify the charges. but now they want to say 9mo later that a medical diagnosis was made.

I have been a patient at Okemos Optometry for 30 years. I’m always grateful for their professionalism and their kindness. Dr Silverman is so wonderful, caring, and calming. Randy (not sure if his position) even sat down with me to figure out why my contacts rebate wasn’t going through. He did not need to do that, but he took time to help me and I truly appreciate it. I always feel like the whole office goes above and beyond in all they do. Thank you.

I was accompanying someone for an eye test today and I was disappointed to see a front desk staff member raising their voice at one of the testers. It came across as very unprofessional and rude especially since the whole office could hear! I do want to emphasize the tester was wonderful and very kind, she did not deserve that kind of attitude. My family has been coming here for years but I don’t know if I can continue to support such a disorganized and unprofessional doctors office.. not to mention all the new fees

Their reply below is manipulative, and they failed to provide an email address. Just creating a false impression that they care. I called Okemos Optometry May 19th at 5:35 PM) with a simple, direct question: did they have an opening for a regular eye exam today? Instead of giving me a straightforward yes/no, the associate, Ashley, proceeded to take down all of my personal information including my name, address, phone number, and answers to other questions. Only after collecting all of this data did she inform me that their earliest available appointment wasn't for another three weeks (June 10th). When I pointed out that this was a massive waste of my time and a poor use of the clinic's resources, Ashley unfortunately didn't seem to see the issue.. Basic customer service dictates checking schedule availability before putting a potential patient through a lengthy intake process. Gathering extensive personal data for an appointment that cannot be accommodated is incredibly inefficient. I hope management addresses this workflow issue to respect future patients' time.

The primary reason for my ratings is the overall positive experience I had during my visit. The doctor was knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything clearly, and the staff was friendly and efficient, which made the appointment smooth and comfortable.
