We chose this office after having a positive experience with Pennock successfully treating our daughter's blocked tear duct. Unfortunately, our experience with a routine eye exam was extremely disappointing. Due to traffic and ongoing construction, the trip to and from the office took about 1.5 hours each way. While that isn't the office's fault, it made the other issues we encountered even more frustrating. The appointment itself lasted nearly two hours. For a pediatric office, there was very little available to help occupy children during the long wait, and the exam rooms were uncomfortably warm. We were charged a copay despite informing the office that our family's out-of-pocket maximum had already been met. When it came time to discuss glasses, we learned the optician was on vacation, so we were unable to purchase glasses or have them fitted during the visit. We were also not provided with a physical copy of the prescription and had to call afterward to have it emailed. The final frustration came when attempting to purchase glasses elsewhere. We discovered our daughter's pupillary distance (PD) had not been measured during the appointment. When I contacted the office, I was told this would require a separate visit with the optician and an additional $25 fee. What should have been a straightforward pediatric eye exam turned into a lengthy, inconvenient, and frustrating process with multiple unexpected obstacles. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this office for routine eye care.

The front desk staff and staff working in optometry with glasses were lovely. Unfortunately, I was not there for optometry purposes, I was there with concerns with eye drift for my 3 year old son. I was disappointed with the quality of care or time taken to observe his condition or hear concerns. My son definitely needed time to adjust to the doctor and exam but that time was not given. Ultimately, we were told he’s fine and come back in a year but with the lack of time spent (his exam was MAYBE 10 minutes) in the exam, we scheduled a second opinion. If you’re going to take time to drive for a small child, consider another office. UPDATE: We got a second opinion and within 10 minutes they saw a problem with our son’s eyes and found out he is farsighted and is on a treatment plan. It’s okay to trust your gut as a parent.

Took our 10 month old son to be seen for concern about eyes not tracking together. They were able to get us in quickly (about a week and a half after we called). All of the staff were very friendly. Both Dr. Hughes and the nurses were very great with our baby! The doctor explained everything to us thoroughly and addressed all of our questions and concerns. Very happy with our decision to take him here!

With having to drive over 2 hours they were not willing to see both our kids in the same day. Very unprofessional front staff.
