My parents moved to this location earlier this year. The staff are highly respectful and provide excellent care. It takes a certain kind of person to take care of elderly people while at the same time communicating with the families of residents. We are so pleased with the quality of care my parents are getting.

My uncle was there. The care he got was the best. When he became a bed patient he was.never wet, dirty, or unkept, always clean
A lot of work has finally gone into renovating these grounds. There are good workers and even better residents here.
My widowed mom couldn't afford much extra besides the essentials; so as a child she'd take me to visit the Illinois Veterans Home. The waving residents, the history, the beautiful scenery. I grew up going to fish, feed the animals, honor the fallen, socialize with the residents, feed the deer and in my day 🦙 llama; and stare at the Bison; imagining what this land must have look like covered in them. I continue the tradition of visiting and sharing the experience with my daughter; as we visit the gardens, daydream aloud of being able to to refurbish this beautiful historic home, and imagining it in its glory. This is one of the gems of our Gem city; and it's so close. I encourage you to visit with your family. Times can be hard, little spots like this exist in our town that can brighten your days a little. If you do visit, don't forget to bring corn, bread, apples, carrots, crackers, etc for the animals (Sav A Lots right down the way). Otherwise you'll hear about it when the honking horned nose Goose waddles up to check. Also, and I can never forget the hardworking carers, medical staff, families, and all who serve the Vets Home mission. Truly, you make this home special for everyone. Thank You.
My daughter and I flew in from California to visit my dad and we could not have been more please with every aspect of our visit. There are rooms for family to stay on site with their loved one and it is financially very reasonable. We were able to get ready for the day and have a close place to rest and go back to visit my dad very frequently. The nurses and aids did everything to facilitate an excellent time with my dad and there are no words to express our gratitude for the memories that were able to be made. The staff all truly love their jobs and it shows with the interaction between them and the veterans who live there. We came back to California knowing that my dad and my daughter’s grandpa is in the very best place and getting the very best care possible.
