The intentional care that goes into how the Rainier Valley Optemetrics team operates provides a beautiful experience for those who wear glasses & contacts! From the welcoming greeting upon arrival to the dedicated staff’s ability to make you feel like extended family while preparing you for the exam, taking such diligence in ensuring that you are comfortable. with the procedural steps & understanding your own eye health as each portion of the exam is crucial for them to determine your individual needs prescription wise. Each team member plays a vital role in determining the outcome for new glasses, contact lenses ordering & follow up visits. Everyone here demonstrates best practice for what a family eye clinic can aspire to be! I have experienced staff come over to share out their thinking about frames I was trying on & offer suggestions - they go above & beyond in creating a meaningful relationship with us. Yesterday, was no exception- the extensive eye exam, the quality time Dr. Susilasate spends with you to keep you safe in your personal life via clear vision & best fitting prescription is humbling! The amount of energy & focus that Mrs. Ton-Susilasate puts into the eyeglass fitting & explaining your insurance coverage is astounding! The way everyone here readily supports one another too is amazing to observe! For the most beneficial eye care in the northwest, see if you can get an appointment here- your eyes will thank you for it daily!

I had an eye exam here and was given a prescription for glasses. When I bought my glasses somewhere else and asked for a re‑check because they didn’t feel right, the doctor told me to go back to the store instead of seeing me. That is not good medical practice. A doctor should care for patients no matter where they buy their glasses, and refusing to check my vision again felt dismissive and unprofessional. Patients deserve proper follow‑up care, not being turned away.

Very rude interaction with the front desk staff when calling and trying to figure out insurance. They threatened to cancel my appointment as I wasn't able to find member ID. When I simply asked for more time to find the information and was trying to say I might need another day as I work full time and need to call my insurance company, the staff member talked over me and then simply hung up. I'm very glad my appointment is cancelled and I went back to scheduling with someone else.

I’ve mistakenly thought I had an appointment the day before my appointment. I went in & told them I can’t make it the next day. They charged me $50 for no show .why couldn’t they waive it? Smh . You know how hard it is for me to take a day off? Sometimes I can’t remember. Also it’s complicated finding transportation!

Highly recommend Rainier Valley Optometric for eye care! The staff is excellent and the doctor is fantastic. My daughter loves her visits there with Dr. Salamanca. It's convenient to order glasses directly from the clinic too
