Rieger Eye Care

Quick, fast appointment. When I got to the end I owed $72. It was a routine eye exam that was covered by my insurance. The extra charges were for photos of my eyes. Had I known, I would’ve declined the extra stuff that wasn’t covered. Nice place but I’ll go back to my generic place next time.

Is it possible to give zero stars? Better yet, negative stars? If so then that is what I would give Rieger. They are thieves. Then and there, without warning and immediately following exam, they charged me out-of-pocket for tests that were covered by insurance at my previous optometrist. Then, Rieger turned around and asked for more money months later. Do yourself a favor. Find somewhere better that treats their patients decently and save your hard-earned cash!

My 17-year old son recently had an appointment at Rieger Eyecare Group, and I cannot say enough about the outstanding care we received. The staff was kind, warm, and caring from start to finish. They were also thorough and informative, which helped us feel comfortable and confident during a very stressful time. Dr. Rieger was insightful and direct while also being optimistic about my son’s situation. She explained things clearly and made sure we understood the seriousness of the injury without making us feel overwhelmed. Her calm and professional approach gave us the guidance we needed. Rieger is a place where families can expect excellent care delivered with compassion and respect. I strongly recommend them to anyone in need of eye care services.

I have been a patient of Dr. Backus for three years, when I came to him from another practice because they got my prescription wrong. He redid my prescription and took care of me. Last year, I got a new pair of glasses, with a new prescription, and this pair was telescopic and unusable. I went back to my old pair for the year. This year I met with Dr. Backus and explained the issue with the lenses. He adjusted the prescription, but when I got my new lenses and these are also telescopic. I don't know if its the testing they use, but it's not getting an accurate reading for me. I've worn glasses for 15 years and never had this problem before.

Love getting back to Dr. Rieger! She was my Doctor for several years, then we both moved away. I recently found out she was back in Normal as I, too, had returned to Illinois. I trust her & feel very comfortable with her. I couldn’t believe her optician, Sarah, was still with her. Sarah used to help me pick out frames. She is very good & patient. Very helpful in finding the best frame for your face. I’m so glad to be back with Dr. Rieger!
