My experience with Dr. Baseem Wahab and this office was extremely concerning. I did not attend my scheduled appointment and did not receive any glasses or lenses. Despite that, I later discovered that my insurance had been billed for multiple expensive vision lens charges. When I contacted the office, I was told that it was a “mistake.” After discovering these charges, I looked into Dr. Wahab’s professional history. I found a public notice from the College of Optometrists of Ontario stating that his Ontario licence was removed in 2020 after he provided false or misleading information during registration. The notice also states that he had failed to disclose prior disciplinary proceedings involving 48 criminal charges for felony, fraud, and theft related to a credit-card fraud case, as well as a federal wire-fraud case in which he pleaded guilty to a felony. Reading that documented history after finding unexplained charges on my own insurance was extremely troubling. Based on my experience, I would not return to this office.
