We followed Dr. Peterson from his private practice. We really like him. He is thorough, knowledgeable, and explains things. I absolutely recommend him as a doctor. Unfortunately, this new arrangement with Shopko is not great. The store front is clean and bright, but quiet. No music. Shopko optical does not allow it. Even elevator music would be preferable. It is awkward, uninviting, and allows for all conversations to be heard. At each of my latest three visits I was met with the strong smell of cigarette smoke wafting in and out of the storefront and exam area. Without other patients one can safely assume it is an employee. An employee sitting across the optical and an employee behind the desk were discussing patient information, including the patient name. Rather than discuss the matter in an appropriate setting, they decided to heck with HIPAA, and broadcast this poor woman's name and her insurance across the optical. I had left a message a few months ago regarding a vision issue that went unreturned. The staff passed the blame around like a hot potato. Patients don't care who is to blame, they just want their inquiry addressed. When they finally stopped assigning blame and addressed me, they did not listen at all. Thankfully they found me an appointment anyway, because my concern was warranted, and Dr. Peterson is monitoring things. Today, I received a voicemail from the office. Once again, you can barely hear them (did I mention some of the staff either use speaker or fail to hold the phone near their mouth?). I was informed of my balance and asked to stop in and pay. Is the bill late? Nope. I just received it in the mail today. Was there a mistake? Nope, this is just a fun little courtesy they extend to patients. It feels like borderline harassment. The only good thing about calling them back was I could hear the person on the other end, so the phones are indeed in working order. So to sum up: Dr. Peterson is thorough, knowledgeable, and overall a great doctor ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The remainder of the practice is not great. Not great at all ⭐️⭐️
