Dr. Jaspal is a great eye doctor. She explained everything thoroughly and I felt comfortable with her and her staff. Great customer service from the front desk all the way to the assistants that take the eye exam. Great staff and informative.

Very disappointing experience at the SightMD Bethpage office!! I called ahead requesting a pediatric ophthalmologist because my son was experiencing unusual visual symptoms. I was told by the call center representative, Vlad, that my son was old enough to see a regular ophthalmologist, so we scheduled an appointment in Bethpage. When we arrived, the front desk staff member told me he would most likely need to see a pediatric ophthalmologist anyway. I explained that this was exactly why I had requested one when I called. Instead of acknowledging the confusion or helping me find a solution, she became extremely dismissive and aggressive. When I asked to speak with an office manager, she told me, “She’ll tell you the same thing I’ll get her when I’m done doing what I’m doing,” and repeatedly told me to sit down while she finished making the chart even though I told her I didn’t know if I wanted to stay for the appointment if we’re only going to be referred out. The office manager was kind, professional, and actually took the time to help. She called multiple locations and found us a pediatric appointment. So no—the office manager did NOT tell me the same thing. She actually listened and helped resolve the situation. I refer patients that I help on a daily basis to SightMD for their ophthalmology needs, which made this experience even more disappointing. The way a patient is treated at the front desk matters. A little empathy and basic kindness go a long way, especially when a parent is concerned about their child. I would not recommend the Bethpage location based on this experience. The front desk interaction was unacceptable. I do, however, recommend the West Islip office, where my experience has been much more positive.
My family and I had three appointments scheduled at this clinic as new patients with Dr Karl. Unfortunately, we experienced a transportation issue that morning and realized we would be running late. As soon as we knew, I contacted customer service, explained the situation, and was told that the office had been notified, that there was a 15-minute late-arrival policy, and that we could still come in and be seen. We arrived at the clinic around 8:32–8:33 a.m. At that time, two of our three appointments were still within the 15-minute window that had been explained to us by customer service. However, when we checked in, we were told that only one of us could be seen and the other two would have to be rescheduled. I understand that we were late, and I take responsibility for that. My concern is not that policies exist. My concern is the conflicting information we received and, more importantly, the way we were treated by the front desk staff. When we explained that customer service had told us the office had been notified and that we could still come in, we were met with a dismissive and unhelpful attitude. We were repeatedly told that customer service is a separate company and that no notification had been received. Rather than helping to resolve the confusion, the front desk employee repeatedly stated that she could not do anything because she did not want to get fired. We asked if customer service could be contacted to clarify what happened. We asked if the doctor could speak with us. None of those requests were accommodated. We also asked for her name so we could discuss the situation with management, and she refused to provide it. What disappointed us most was the lack of professionalism, courtesy, and empathy. Front desk staff are the first people patients interact with, and they set the tone for the entire experience. Even when there is a misunderstanding or scheduling issue, patients deserve to be treated respectfully. Patients are often expected to wait when doctors are running behind schedule, and most people do so patiently and without complaint. We were simply hoping for the same understanding after calling ahead, explaining the situation, and being told that we could still come in. The interaction became so unpleasant that we ultimately canceled all three appointments and decided not to continue care with this clinic. Had the situation been handled with kindness, professionalism, and clear communication, the outcome likely would have been very different. I hope management reviews both the communication process between customer service and the clinic as well as the conduct of the front desk staff. Policies are important, but so is treating patients with respect. I am sharing this experience so that other patients can make informed decisions and so that the clinic has an opportunity to improve the patient experience.
Love the Doctors BUT they consistently over book and have a sign stating all doctors are running an Hour behind!! That is not okay!!! They are sure to let you know that if you don't cancel an appointment within 24hours of your scheduled visit you will be charged but nothing is said about their ridiculously long wait time! I feel my time is just as valuable as theirs I can understand running slightly behind but when its consistently that behind, Again, it is obvious over booking and that is NOT ok! Be sure to call ahead so you don't have to wait in a crowded waiting room for an hour.
Very thorough. I have been going for my yearly check up for quite some time now. Dr. Rubin is extremely thorough and explains everything he does and lets you know the results right there and explains in a manner that I can understand. Highly recommend.
