I had my annual eye exam with Dr. Socey last week, and it was another great experience. One of the things I appreciate most is that she takes the time to explain everything in a way that's easy to understand. She never makes you feel rushed and is genuinely personable, which makes the appointment comfortable from start to finish. You can also tell she's passionate about what she does. She truly cares about her patients and about helping them understand their eye health, and that really stands out. If you're looking for an eye doctor who is knowledgeable, caring, and takes the time to answer your questions, I highly recommend Dr. Socey!

I have mixed feelings about this office since the change in staff. I started going here when I was in 3rd grade to Dr. Reed, then Dr. Wilkerson... When Dr. Socey came along, started seeing her. The staff is always friendly, knowledgeable, and professional, and I've never had any concerns about the quality of care I received. Unfortunately, the billing practices are the reason I'll be going elsewhere. Because I indicated on my paperwork that I have Type 2 diabetes—even though it's well-managed with a controlled A1C—my routine eye exam was automatically billed to my medical insurance instead of my vision insurance, resulting in a much higher out-of-pocket cost. The same thing happened to my husband. What was especially frustrating is that neither of us were informed prior to the exam that the charges would be billed to our medical insurance. This would've allowed us to have made a better/informed decision about getting the exam or not. We received no additional testing or services beyond what we've had during routine eye exams in previous years. Had specialized diabetic testing or treatment been performed, I could better understand the medical billing. That wasn't our experience. It's disappointing to feel like being honest on your medical history leads to significantly higher charges for what was otherwise a basic eye exam. Because of that, I've decided to find a different eye care provider. Just to make others aware, pay attention to how you fill out your forms, and be aware that when asked for your medical insurance, that you'll most likely be charged more than previously. Going from a simple $50 to over $300 just for a routine exam is insane. I hope the office will be more transparent about how a diabetes diagnosis or any other medical issues affects billing so patients can make informed decisions before their appointments in the future.

My husband and I have received excellent care for the many years we have had Dr Wilkerson as our provider. Dr. Wilkerson is very knowledgeable , takes time to explain everything in an understandable way and provides excellent care. The staff is pleasant and helpful. Would highly recommend Springfield Primary Eye Care.

Great experience here. Friendly staff and went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable while working on my vision. The glasses part on the lower level was also very helpful and easy to deal with. Highly suggest

Dr Jason Wilkerson is the best. He truly cares about his patients and makes sure to give you all the information you need to make the most informed decision.
