Dr. Montoya performed my dad's cataract surgery on both eyes. We're all extremely happy with the services and attention my father received. The doctor, staff, and Maricruz (surgical coordinator) were extremely helpful. They're always so busy, but take their time with their examinations and explanations of procedures. They're attention to detail is noticed. Everyone definitely made the process easy and run smoothly. Definitely recommend this staff. They're all extremely knowledgeable and experienced in their respective fields.

I am extremely disappointed with the service I received at St. Lucia Eye Center, particularly from Luvia Morataya, the Authorization Coordinator. The entire experience was frustrating, unprofessional, and poorly handled. About a month ago, I received an authorization letter to see a specialist regarding a time-sensitive DMV form that needed to be completed. As many people know, it can take weeks or even months to get an appointment with an eye specialist, so I called immediately after receiving my authorization. I explained the reason for my visit and provided the authorization information they requested. I was then scheduled for an appointment on June 24. The day before my appointment, I received a text message—not even a phone call—telling me that the specialist would not be in the office because he does not work on Wednesdays. My first question was: if the specialist doesn't work on Wednesdays, why was I scheduled for a Wednesday appointment in the first place? I immediately called the office and spoke with Cynthia. After explaining the situation, I was told that I was actually scheduled to see an optometrist first. This made no sense to me because my authorization clearly stated the reason for my visit, and I had already explained that I needed to see a specialist regarding my DMV paperwork. I was then transferred to Luvia Morataya, the authorization coordinator. I explained again that my DMV paperwork was time-sensitive, that I had already waited a month for this appointment, and that I could not afford any further delays. Instead of acknowledging the scheduling mistake or trying to find a solution, she repeatedly focused on explaining the office's process and offered appointment dates that were beyond my DMV deadline. What bothered me most was the lack of urgency and accountability. I felt like no one cared that I had already waited a month or that this delay could affect my DMV requirements. Rather than helping resolve the issue, I was left feeling frustrated and dismissed. If you need to see a specialist and have important deadlines, be very careful. My experience with Luvia Morataya and the scheduling process at St. Lucia Eye Center was extremely frustrating, and it ended up wasting a month of my time. I hope management takes a closer look at how patients are being scheduled and how concerns are handled when mistakes happen.
Dr. Montoya is very professional and always care his patients. My surgery was very smooth and successful. Thank you Dr. Montoya and special thank you to the helpful and friendly staff. Special thanks to Ms. Maricruz.
This was one of the worst experiences I’ve had with a medical office. I called ahead and was told I could come in as a walk-in at 9 AM, so I took time off work to be there. When I arrived, the front desk suddenly said walk-ins don’t start until 12 PM—completely contradicting what I was told on the phone. Because of their misinformation, I lost work hours for nothing. I came back at 12 PM as instructed, checked in with all my documents and an already approved referral, and then sat there for over an hour with zero communication. No updates, no explanation—nothing. When I finally asked what was going on, I was casually told they were “checking insurance,” which should have been handled much more efficiently given I had a referral. Meanwhile, the front desk staff seemed more focused on chatting about unrelated topics than helping patients. This office is disorganized, unprofessional, and clearly does not respect patients’ time. I would not recommend coming here unless you’re prepared to deal with poor communication and long, unnecessary waits
I had my second eye surgery less than 24 hours ago and I am already seeing 20/20 in that eye! So impressive and truly miraculous! Dr Montoya is really a thorough and experienced ophthalmologist and he has a great team to back him up.i came in with 20/100 I was really apprehensive during the surgery on my right eye and thanks to the doctor, Maricruz, Aura, Soledad Elizabeth and the others all of that nervousness disappeared. I am thrilled with the results.
