The Checkin girl at the front desk couldn’t have been more friendly. She was very knowledgeable. All my tests were performed by friendly technicians, who were also very knowledgeable. Then seeing Dr Michaelos was a great experience. He spoke calmly with extreme knowledge. I highly recommend Dr Michaelos for all your eye healthcare. 5+ Stars

Medical Care: 5/5. Both Dr. Ortiz and Dr. Deupree (the retina specialist) were awesome. They are highly skilled, and I felt completely confident in their care. Scheduling and Communication: 1/5. The scheduling process felt a bit disjointed, but the real issue is the wait time. I sat in the waiting room for nearly 3 hours for my appointment, only to see the specialist for 5 minutes to be told I was fine. When I asked about the delay at the 2-hour mark, the staff gave scripted excuses about "patient care" instead of being transparent about overbooking and staffing shortages (which patients were discussing openly in the room). The waiting room was boiling over with frustration. I would still recommend St. Michaels because the doctors are top-notch, but management needs to fix the bottleneck and the few detached staff members could use some customer service training too. Be prepared to wait 2, maybe even 3 hours. Oh, and bring a jacket—the waiting room A/C seems to never shut off.
The biggest mistake I've ever made. I was promised that after cataract surgery (which I didn't really want or need,I went in for a new pair of contacts after recently moving to the area and was told that my cataracts were bad even though it wasn't affecting my vision)I wouldn't need contacts or if I did, I could wear soft contact lenses and after years of wearing hard contacts this sounded like a God send. It's been a nightmare ever since. My surgery was in January and it's now June and I still can't see. The cataract surgeon is cocky and rude and after paying over $8,000 that I didn't have, they still can't get my vision right even with glasses. I'm now going somewhere else and hoping and praying for the best but after I went there I've heard a lot of bad experiences from people. I highly recommend avoiding using St. Michael's, they're just out to take your money and don't actually care about their patients. *Update * not even 5 minutes after I left my review I got a response saying that I should contact them regarding my experience there and that I should tell them where I'm going to seek help so that they can assist them and give them all of my records (I've already made sure that where I'm going going has ALL of my records). This place is a joke and they're extremely greedy. They don't actually care about their patients which is a shame because I feel like the original founder did.
I arrived 15 minutes early for my 8:15 AM appointment, expecting a standard check-in process. Instead, I was told to sign HIPAA and consent forms that were never actually shown to me. I was not given any opportunity to read what I was signing — which is completely unacceptable. Being told “this is your HIPAA form” is not the same as being allowed to review it. That alone raised serious concerns about how this office operates. It didn’t stop there. I came in specifically for a cosmetic consultation (upper eyelid surgery), yet I was pushed into a full eye exam — despite clearly explaining that I had recently completed one and had the records available. It felt unnecessary and, frankly, like an attempt to bill for additional services. After that, I waited for over an hour and never even saw the doctor. At that point, the entire experience felt disorganized at best and exploitative at worst. I left because I no longer felt comfortable or confident in the care I would receive. I would strongly advise others to think twice before coming here.
Staff always polite and helpful. Assistants who conducted testing were patient and explained procedure simply. Dr. Ortiz, low key, does not rush you, repeatedly asks if you have questions. New to Florida, very happy I found St. Michael's, they are the best.
