My husband and I have used this store for 10+ years and until the current management took over we were always quite satisfied. The last experience was enough for us to now move to another eye wear provider for the calamity of errors associated with this location. Mid December, purchased glasses and used my insurance to supplement cost. 1 week later - I stopped into the store for an update. I was told glasses were at lab. 2 weeks later - I went in again for an update and received the same generic update. Now it is holidays. 4 weeks later - Store called, gave a very lengthy excuse about how my insurance company failed inspection on frames then they lost them. They told me Insurance would call to work it out. 5 weeks Later - Called Insurance and they have been waiting on store to answer notes from their last contact. Called to get refund today. Staff stories at this store are ambiguous, contradicting, and they are not very helpful. My husband and I will now seek better service for the money we have paid to this store over 10 years.

I will not return to Sterling Optical. I purchased prescription Costa sunglasses from this store. The lenses are heavily pitted. When I showed the glasses to the store personnel she said "you got salt water on the lenses." She explained the coating was peeling off. She was correct, I did get salt water on the lenses. As advertised, I used them for saltwater sailing. The store would do nothing for me except call Costa who did not do anything for me because they are out of warranty. They are correct that they do not legally have to do anything for me, but the lenses should not deteriorate. If you buy Costa glasses, then you should assume the lenses will not last beyond the short warranty period and if you buy from this store, then you should assume it will not provide a remedy. Meanwhile, my Maui Jim and Revo sunglasses (not purchased from Sterling) of same age and use, are still performing well and look the same as when they were purchased.
I had a pair of no line bifocals made up at Sterling about a year ago. They took my insurance, gave me a great price, and didn't pressure me to get the most expensive thing in the store. My glasses work great, and I'll be going back next year when my insurance kicks back in.
I went to get an eyey exam and new glasses. I have been going there for years but this is my first time under new management. I was asked to sign a waiver because I brought my own frames. Didn't really think anything of it because I've been a customer for years. Several days after I called in to check on my glasses and the guy on the phone acted like I was bothering him. Ok everybody has a bad day. I'llI just wait for the call to come get them. Once I received my glasses I understood why I had to sign a waiver. They mangled my glasses. They lost one of screws and replaced it with a screw that dosent fit and forceced it in and scratched the frames. The frames were not put back together properly and and haved large gaps in them. The lenses were not cut properly and when they put the glasses in some type of vice to put the back together the scratched up the temple tip (the part that goes around the ear). Bad service and bad workmanship. I won't be back. 12/13/18 - update Wow I received a call from Sterling optical today offering to try to make my experience right. The fact that they would even call and check on the situation is in my book exceptional. Many times today not only is the customer not "always right", not that they are, but the retailer is indifferent to any complaints. I really appreciate how this has been handled and have had my mind change by the follow up. This has turned into an excellent experience. 5 stars 🌟
Ladies that work here are extremely nice and helpful. The store has a good selection of eyewear, and they can order from online anything you need but is not in store. Would definitely come back here again.
