I have no quarrel with the clinical care or patient interactions involving Dr. Baum and his clinical staff. I do, however, object to the lack of respect demonstrated by the office staff through their appointment scheduling practices and the behavior and words of some of the members of that staff. (Note: The receptionist is always pleasant and respectful.) I understand when a doctor's schedule gets behind during the day. To me that signifies they are interested in their patients' well-being. I DON'T understand when I am one of the first appointments of the day and there are already more than a dozen people in the waiting room! And I was told to always expect at least a 40 minute wait, that on this day I would NOT be seen within the hour. (I have my own job for goodness sake.) With hubris the woman appearing to be the office manager informed me "you can go find another ophthalmologist." (Thank you Mrs. Obvious) Even more egregious is the note posted on the receptionist window that if you, as a patient, are more than 10 minutes late you will be charged for the appointment. Good patient care requires the entire crew be on board to treat patients with dignity and respect. Dr. Baum, your front office fails in this regard. From my perspective, your team is fired.
